Why?
Pointless filling them just for the sake of filling them.
If you're just wanting to fill them, you end up with the Grayson's and Konate's of the world.

It wouldn’t be for the sake of filling them. An injury to McGuane or Brannagan for me would see a huge drop off in how we could do this season. A loan midfielder is a MUST for me.

The other loan spot would be a striker. Plenty of young PL talent around who could come in for experience and cameos plus it would mean O’Donkor could go out and get valuable starts instead of being a 5 minute cameo sub.

I've no doubt that we're currently in the position where no contracts are structured beyond June 2026, but that is entirely sensible right now.

We are still signing players like Goodwin on two and a half year deals with the option of a further year, which is a decent contract length for all parties.

But there are no secrets to the fact that we may no longer exist as a viable league club if the stadium doesn't get approved. This is no secret and I don't think it's much of a conspiracy to suggest that the club are remaining non-commital beyond June 2026. In fact, I would suggest that it would be hugely irresponsible to do otherwise.
I think the exact opposite to what you are saying, although I can understand your point of view completely and there is a fine balance between what is the right strategy to take.

At the moment the club are displaying an attitude that the need to mitigate potential future liabilities so that they are minimised beyond June 2026 is a greater need than protecting current investment and asset value. If the liabilities don't materialise then there could be significant future asset loss. So conversely it may actually prove irresponsible to not protect the assets now.

If the club did enjoy success and gets a promotion, 2.5 year contracts are no good for FFP compliance either because the transfer fees are amortised over a shorter period. The +1 doesn't count as it is not a guaranteed extension. So it makes living with FFP much more difficult too.

The club is showing a degree of weakness with these contract policies and it could start to harm the club in the future especially as it is not exactly hidden from the competition and we could be losing players in the Summer if they are unsettled because we can't offer deals beyond another 2 years maximum, and we could struggle to recruit the right players if we only offer 2 years.

Indeed, that is not in question.

So other than the tooth fairy, my ignorance is quite simply how do our owners build us a £100 mill stadium sourcing external finance and yet give up all of the income streams that you have listed above and charge OUFC minimal rent into the bargain?

I am not sure we should be so blinkered as to just say its not OUFC's problem.

Anyway, back to transfer deadline.....
Can you separate 'the owners' and 'the club'? The club owns only some players' registrations and the training ground(?), and the owners own the club and so will own the ground.

If anyone does come in now there won't have been much time for a medical so difficult to feel optimistic about any late moves
Less than 25 confirmed deals across the entire 92 clubs so far today.

That is likely to more than double before the window shuts.

Medicals often done before final agreements between clubs and/or players on deadline day, to ensure the thoroughness is still there.

Nlundulu is out long term with a hamstring tear - they clearly like having four top class options for their two striker spots, so Collins is replacing him.
Nice options to have, beats having 4/5 injured wingers that’s for sure

Leonard is an interesting one. We need someone who is good at holding up, which he is - but 3 in 22 isn't a great return for Blackburn, and in his wiki bio (as much as you can believe a wiki bio) it suggests he does a lot of unselfish work.
Harris does a lot of unselfish work. I think we could do with someone selfish.
