From that we don’t need a DM, we just need the central midfielders to track their runners.
Depends which central midfielders we play. They are not all excellent excellent tacklers or even that consistent in tracking back (never have been). Early days yet, but a disciplined defensive central midfielder is looking like a big omission to me.

As clown brought himself down, by continously failing to cover the obvious targeted areas, manning is heading the same way. Like clown, lots of blusto and bravado, from.page 12 of the handbook as the transfer window heads for another nosedive.
I don't want to witness an Oxford side play as poor as last Saturday, ever.

Think you might be disappointed.

Being a football fan might not be for you then

I think you've got to at least expect it when you are a League One club. And I can't believe that the Cambridge game was such a low mark that it deserved that comment.
I could say that I don’t want to perform as badly as I did in bed last night again, ever, but it doesn’t mean that I shouldn’t even be a fan…

No, but the reply wasn't saying that, it was saying 'if you are going to be annoyed by that performance, then you'd better get used to being disappointed'. The original comment would have made more sense if applied to Wednesday, not Saturday.

I personally disagree, I’m less bothered by a shellacking (in which at least we scored) away to a decent Championship side in the cup when we’ve rotated and got some young players starting, than a poor (first half at least) display against a supposed League One relegation candidate with all of our fancy new signings starting.

I also think there’s a difference between saying ‘You’d better get used to being disappointed’ and ‘being a football fan might not be for you’, but then again I’m probably just still in a bad mood…

That's fair enough, guess my level for histrionics is set a bit lower. I was much more annoyed by the display at Cambridge last year than I was the one on Saturday, although I'm still in a grump about that.

Style, systems, formations blah blah blah.
It gets to a point where you have to concede that we don’t have the ability…which is hard to swallow from what I saw only a few wks ago.

However, the proof is in the pudding. It’s been a year of dross and there are common denominators throughout our squad.
We've got a new manager and signed eight players, but the ones to blame are the few remaining players? Meh

Uh oh, that's one I can see happening to be honest

Have conflicted feelings on Brannagan. Obviously love him and want him to stay, however his opportunity to get championship football is reducing by the season.

He is on chunky money for a league one footballer and has been off the pace for a while.

If he was to leave (I assume, with the club getting a decent transfer fee) I’m not sure I would be too devastated. He’s done his time, has given us a majority of his prime and could get us some decent money in the process. Wouldn’t begrudge him a move.

Football fans shouldn’t not want to see their teams play poorly?!
All football fans see their sides play poorly. It is part of football (especially at L1 level ' but Brazil fans saw their side concede 7 at a home WC, so it happens to the best of them)
No football fans want their team to play poorly, but it will definitely happen at times

Agree but the timing is awful.
Ww clearly would have to replace him
