Signing today? Didn’t manning say a couple days ago we was close to one or two. hopefully a LB and Striker

Iam sure we will have a player in today ,we need some good news .And it's not the fact we have lost the first 2 games it's the manner .Hoping for better tomorrow, its just the same old same old at rhe minute.

Harrison is best in a front 2 though, something that I can’t see us doing (unfortunately).
I agree we should try two up front, and we could do it in a 3-4-1-2 formation.....

-Beadle
-3 central defenders (Moore/Brown/JT)
-two wingbacks (Stevens and ????)
-a new tackler and CamBran in the middle
-Rodrigues in the 10 role
-Harris and another striker up front who can hold the ball up and play others in.

I honestly believe this suits our set of current defenders better and would make the most of our (pretty limited!) options in the squad.

Just try something different Liam and see how it goes, sure it can't be any worse than the first two games.☹️

Still no further players in after Manning said last weekend that he hoped to have possibly one in if not two in early this week!
What he actually said was that he had some meetings this week and well yes could mean a bigger sell after the wonky start

Think I may have said this before but its often the case that transfer business across the EFL quietens down once the season starts and for all the talk we end up seeing most of the business done in the last 2 days of the window. Wouldn't surprise me if we did nothing now until 30th and 31st of the month.

I completely agree but I think the gaps you highlight are exactly why we haven’t already. I think if we’d got a LWB earlier with 2 weeks or more left of pre season, we’d already be in that shape. It’s not a position you can shoehorn someone in to, it’s a specialist role. I’d be all over George Cox and Tennai Watson until the fat lady sings.

We’re a bit committed to this system for a bit, no matter how it looks. I think we’ll draw 0-0 tomorrow. Can’t see where a goal comes from and all the focus since Weds will have been on stopping the goals going in.

By which time if we don’t win Saturday we will be like the UK in Eurovision and have nul points
Unless we see a big improvement tomorrow I can actually see this happening

Yeah agree, but Manning saw how certain players like Brown/Long/GO'D/Cam were playing during the ten games last season, could he not have seen what they would be more suited to, and then recruited for that shape? A lot of fans could see that the first two games this season were very similar to last season and are not impressed at all.

Yes I think we're stuck with the 4 at the back at the moment but I think he's really missing a trick, and if we don't start playing and performing soon he will find himself under pressure.

I'm also afraid I am really not enjoying Manning always coming out with the phrases 'process' and 'understanding the roles'.....because on Weds it seemed like no one understood what their role was and the process seems to be seriously flawed! And that's down to Manning, he sets the team up and recruited these players. And it will be on him if it doesn't work.

Style, systems, formations blah blah blah.
It gets to a point where you have to concede that we don’t have the ability…which is hard to swallow from what I saw only a few wks ago.

However, the proof is in the pudding. It’s been a year of dross and there are common denominators throughout our squad.

It’s very strange that the fans over the years can see what the team needs in terms of personnel and selection , yet managers can’t, or if they can do very little about it

I don’t think anyone will come in today, if there is a signing, it has to be before a certain time to feature tomorrow.

I for one am furious that we didn’t pause our other signings before getting in a left back. Sure, we would have missed out on all our top targets in other positions leaving the squad fucked, but at least we would have our left back.

This revisionism so soon into the season is alarming, whilst we have been looking for a left back, trying to suggest that signing a player in that position should have been an absolute priority whilst neglecting other positions is bordering on ludicrous. We needed a lot of changes.

The window is still open and Manning has literally said we’re working on a left back and striker. A little bit of patience wouldn’t go amiss.

He has. From the evidence of the first two games, an experienced specialist right back and a proper defensive midfielder should also be on the list. The latter is so obvious that in the OWS match report for Bristol, we had this "Knight ran worryingly unchallenged down the centre of the pitch", so it's not as if it's a secret!

From that we don’t need a DM, we just need the central midfielders to track their runners.

Can you really operate successfully like this ? Name me any other successful football club that has had a player playing virtually every game for just 60 minutes ? It’s a genuinely ridiculous way to try and create a winning formula. We should be signing robust players who can stay the course, not flakey delicate ones who can just do an hour - McEacheran ain’t that bloody good that he can get us into a winning position week in week out with just an hours football.
MK nearly got automatic promotion with him two years ago. Jamie Mackie couldn’t even warm up before games in 19/20 and lots of people loved him, while being quite certain that covid stopping the season cost us promotion. He wasn’t even any good at football.

I’m not backing or criticising McEachran because the season isn’t even a week old yet, I’m merely pointing out that it isn’t a secret that he can’t play 90 minutes. I’m surprised that anyone is surprised.
