Transfer News January 2023 Transfer window thread

I had a dream last night that Matty Taylor had left us to go to Port Vale!! It was weird!!

What was also odd we didn’t get another player in to replace him!! Dreams eh!! Well I suppose you could say it was a nightmare!!

Best lay off the Stinking Bishop....

I reckon in th short time Taylor is at port vale he will score double figures he's gone to a team where he knows the manager he's got his mate in Harrison to set up the goals for him he's actually been clever about the team he's gone to

When you see it like this, does this help?

Wicker basket
Brief case
Golf club

Makes it obvious to me.

Wicker = Wickham
Brief = short
Club = club

Connor Wickham will shortly be joining our club.

👍

What really made it obvious was you spelling it out with words 😂, I was going going off on a right tangent with chickens, eggs and baskets, don’t think I will ever bother entering catchphrase.

Matty is finished at L1 level, everyone can see this.

No problem with him moving on, gives some another excuse to moan of course.
We'll soon find out.

Not happy about this, but hard to really assess the decision until we know if a free agent is comin gin (like Baldock last year).

Karl Robinson has decided that there is no issues in defensive midfield or with creativity in Jan, and that is what will ultimately cost him his job.

May as well have kept Matty

It’s the right move imho although does leave us light.

Shame Henry and Baldock didn’t follow out the door - We need a huge reset right now, sorry for me Matt wasn’t doing it this season and didn’t produce too much last season either.

Let’s see what happens, we are left a bit light for sure.

Taylor has seen his service vanish. The stats that were done by Oxford Analytics on Twitter show this:

He’s being made to carry the can by a manager who in his pre-game for Burton stressed the point that Taylor had got his sharpness back. What changed in 4 days, Karl?

Taylor has never created his own chances. He is a great goal scorer not a scorer of great goals. He’s been let down and his frustration has been clear for all to see.

If he’d been replaced by someone better, well that’s football. He hasn’t, though. He’s been replaced by a gamble and the promise that JR residents Baldock and Browne will be an available to play up-front (not forgetting that Bodin has shown us all just how effective he is as a central striker). Our squad is no stronger now than it was at the start of the window.

It’s almost as though KR knows he’s off and he’s on a destroy and exit strategy. Leaving the club laden with expensive crocks and aging has-beens.
s**t map: freudian slip?

You mean tonight?
I think it’s going to be an odd atmosphere tonight.

We need points on the board, so calling for Karl’s head before the game may not be the best to get the team going. Also, with new players coming on board, who may well be oblivious to the current mood towards Karl, it may have an affect on them too tonight/going forward which won’t be good for us.

Go one or two nil down and it could turn nasty or lose the game and turn nasty again. I’d say this was the better option.

But what if we play well and win with new players scoring goals.

Just wish I knew what to do.

Basically I want us to get to safety first, and whether that means Karl goes now (not so bad now that the transfer window is out of the way), shortly after tonight’s game or at the end of the season, it’s still time for a change.

And then get rid

So just as someone is brought in to take some of the burden off of Taylor or - stay with me - play alongside him, he's let go.

I think it is obvious to all that he's not been as sharp this season, but it's also obvious that the team as a whole has been pretty crap.

I know there's no sentiment in football and all that, but I think a one year extension for Taylor on reduced terms would've worked well for all parties.
