Manager/Coach KREXIT: The 'Robbo Out' thread.

I can well imagine that, right now, there are club officials deliberating on what comes next. Meetings tomorrow and Monday. How to proceed?
My thoughts would be: Sack Robinson. Clear the air. The toxic environment that prevails throughout the club and fan base demands action. Appoint an interim management team from the existing staff. Craig Short, Leon Blackmore-Such to start. Bring in Sam Baldock who, it is said, has aspirations to coach/manage. Speak to Steve Kinniburgh and get his input. The season has a way to go yet and we need, as a minimum, 50 points. It might take more to be safe, maybe less, but unlikely. It will be a disappointing season without doubt but, it won't end in disaster and relegation. Meanwhile, step up the search for a new management team. Rumour has it that this is already the case with foreign contacts being utilised.
However, regardless of that, Robinson must go. There is no way that he can be allowed to ferment any more discord. Regardless of how forgiving the board may be towards his indiscretions, ego, or how receptive they have been to his personality and outspoken methods, his time is up. Results alone would have seen other clubs dispensing with his services.
That it has come to supporters openly chanting in a manner which can only bring the club into disrepute is unforgiveable, he has to go. If he is still here on Wednesday and the result of the Barnsley game goes against us, the press will have a field day. Not good news when we are negotiating to lease land for a new stadium.

This 👍🏻

Explain? Otherwise it’s the ramblings of a mad man

Well he is a mad dog!
Not sure Appleton is the guy you want on a short-term contract. He's at his best when he's got time to build something. Unlike Robinson, who seems to struggle when he has time to think.

Agree. I have a lot of time for Appleton. But he’s not a fire fighter, he’s an empire builder.

I would worry that if Mapp returned he wouldn’t be given enough time and could therefore damage his OUFC legacy. Because let’s face it, whoever inherits this mess needs at least two transferwindows to sort it out.

Saying that I’m convinced if Appleton had been given the budget that was afforded Robinson this season, he would undoubtedly have built a fully balanced squad with an eye to the future. Something that Robinson is incapable of doing.

Or he'll just jump ship when the next offer rolls in

Are we really going to lumber on to the end of the season like this? Really?
I ask in all honesty, as we already know that the club read YF and presumably know how bad things have got.
How can they continue to allow him to carry on, especially as his position is so clearly untenable?
Not only has he fallen out with various members of his staff but he has alienated players too. Performances have largely flatlined and his tactics and substitutions have rarely been anything more than a sad sequence of square pegs in round holes.
He has been failing as a manager for so long now that all the good work that he put in at the start of his tenure now counts for nothing.
They must know it is time - He knows it’s time and sure as f**k we all know it’s time.
Sack him! FFS Sack him and move on.

Criticism is okay. Mentioning situations that have happened that have affected his job is okay. I think most have kept it clean on here when it could have been spoken about much more openly. He is best to leave now before these things start getting mentioned more as people use it as a stick to beat him with. What I can’t stand is some of our fans posting profile pictures of him on social media dressed up as a clown. That’s simply pointless and pathetic and it’s the same idiots that go to games hoping we lose & moaning the atmosphere is shocking, yet come up with awful chants or just pipe up when we are losing. His time has come to an end at the club imo, but be a grown up about it. Some of the pathetic attempts at posting things to get likes is what grates me the most. If you can actually put a few sentences together to explain why you don’t want him at the club anymore, rather than s*** photoshopped pictures. I’d respect them more.

As for Robinson, this was the first time since October that I felt like players weren't playing for him. Far too many seemed to be going through the motions, and that makes his position untenable. However, I'm afraid that the board have got themselves in a mess and there are no easy options right now. Shorty and Baldock? Faz? A short term stabilising figure? Finding the right manager right now may not be as easy as some think, and there's gambles with whoever we look at.

I'd be inclined to get to someone like Brian McDermott as an interim manager, and task him with doing a wholesale review of the footballing side of the club as well as looking to appoint a long term manager in the summer. He could then stay on as DoF with a proper scouting structure, recruitment team and coaching infrastructure in place and a manager focusing purely on the first team. The board, chairman and CEO have been too quiet for too long and need to act now, and this is as much for Robinsons benefit as the clubs.

Sam Allardyce until the end of the season it is. 😃

Not the worst shout.

I might be wrong but as far as I can see it’s been nearly 8 years since Brian McDermott has a managed a football club, and 2 half years since he left his job as an Arsenal scout.

On the face of it much more suited to a DOF role than a long term manager, which is I think is what you were suggesting.

Why do I get the feeling the board will go for an overseas coach with associated entourage?

What I find very worrying is that we all want him to go and yet we all lack any belief that the board will act.

I worry the board are really out of touch with what fans think. Will any board representatives have been in Burton today?

A huge issue is lots of competent people have left the club because of Karl. I'd give it James Henry player manager to the end of the season at this rate.

The board really messed up not acting earlier. Any credit Karl had in the bank from two failed play off campaigns is long gone.

Let’s go for it and get Marcelo Bielsa, he’s available 😂
