General Dan Harris - Leaving

Revoked early is usual when the decision has be made to give the player chance to find a new club/ way . Awful but it happens. Mac had been unfortunate with injuries as well during his two year scholarship so that would have played a factor.
Don't think replaced as next step was being a young pro while a new scholarship goes to a 16/ 17 yo to start the process again.
Mac was released with a 5 other scholars, decision was made and announced on OWS in March. Personally I find it difficult to make the link between an 18yr old being released, as often happens, and a 16 year old scholar coming in 5months later.

Depending on the source, there is between 2 and 3.5% chance of a kid playing football professionally...once you take out those that get injured once they make it, don't get offered a new contract and drift down the leagues or only make a handful of appearances off the bench, the number is even smaller still. I'm sure that getting signed on in the academy of the club you support is a dream for any parent, but surely you go in open-minded that the path even then will in all probability not end up in you running out in yellow for a first team game.

The way they are treated, I acknowledge, is a different kettle of fish.

Even so thought the club has bought in Eddie A to bolster the support to younger players.

As I've said, people will believe what they want to, they're hardly going to post what's been discussed on the OWS, and most fans will just go along with what's on there by the looks of it and they'll probably be happier for it...

There's a reason other scholars and youth team players parents agreed with her tweets, something rubbed them all up the wrong way. Those who have heard the ongoings know this wasn't standard procedure or the right way to go about things. That's the reason for discontent.

Yes that would be the case usually. In this case the man who watched this player day in day out wanted him to stay but was forced to replace with him with a lower quality alternative and overruled because someone wanted to do their mate a favour.

If you were told your son was released in those circumstances despite the head of academy thinking he should still be there, you'd be fairly unhappy too I imagine.

Without digging up my comments from earlier this thread, ties in with what I was hearing last year about having favourites. Shameless nepotism and incredibly worrying.

Still doesn't quite add up, because Masters next deal would have either been a third year of a scholarship (like Brearey/Owens) to be around the first team and/or loaned out.
Or a professional contract as per Golding.

Fowler has come in as a first year scholar.

Might just be the "replace" term muddying the waters a bit i.e. by lining up the signing of Fowler, it meant there wasn't budget/room for Masters. (or any other of the released scholars)
Though was Fowler really lined up around 6 months ago given the announcement of which scholars were staying or not. And he had a trial in July at Rangers.

On a separate note, the fact that Ben Watt has been picked up by Norwich suggests he might be the one that we regret in the future?
The only one of that cohort to get a professional side.
Do we know if this was Norwich offering him a deal following his release by us? Or him choosing Norwich over us in terms of re-signing?

Let's be honest, someone could post that Karl Robinson ate their hamster, it would get 50 "likes" and people would then use that to "prove" it was true.

We've had people talk about divides and not wanting to be on different sides, but as soon as anyone posts anything that goes against Robinson being the pantomime villain, they are mocked or shouted down. This has got to the point where there are many posters that are not bothering to share their views which makes this all very one sided.

It's no different from the DoF talk, which has nothing to do with having an intermediate between the board and the manager and all about taking control away from Robinson!

It's all getting a bit sad to be honest.

Unfortunately, I think that's a wider reflection of society these days. It's difficult to have a sensible discussion when we're so quick to take up an extreme side of one debate. Personally, I support Karl, think he's one of the better managers we've had in my time following Oxford, though I have questions about the extent of his responsibilities, or control, if you want to call it that. Sadly, that's not a very interesting position to take in an age where if you're not dying on a hill for something, you're the one attacking it.

One can only imagine what it’s like to be mocked or jumped on for expressing a thought or opinion deemed to be unpopular, to the point that posting feels completely pointless and a waste of time. Particularly when it comes to specific individuals.

A sad day. I can’t believe this.

Yes I feel the same, I’m not joining the bedwetters or the happy clappers

I'm testing this, and Hammy's shithing theirself.

Oh dear. I hate bullying. Disagreeing that KR is perfect can ruin kiddies' lives. Dearie me.

This can be said of the transfer thread 2 months ago

I don't agree with this, Robinson may be the catalyst for identifying the problem, but I don't think people would be calling for the DoF to be immediately sacked should a new manager show up. A DoF would help Robinson, it would help the club and it would help any future managers.
