General Dan Harris - Leaving

Some of the comments about KR having his favourites seem a little odd.
Which manager does not have their favourites? It is a game of opinions.
There seems to be a lot of comment about a young lad released ( and his mother appears to be letting him down with public comments).
After last night, persevering with JJ, Golding and O'Donkor ( plus of course Goodrham) appears to be paying off and there seems to be a sense of optimism about the young players coming through ( both from the club and the supporters)
Agree.
Yes they will have favourites. but it is generally for a reason. Same as released youngsters will be released for a reason. If we had a Mason Mount in the Academy (though he would be poached for little money under the terms of EPPP - but for the sake of argument) and he was with the "wrong" agent, do you think that would make the slightest difference to them being offered terms? No.

I have asked this question before but didn't get a response, what is the connection between New era sports management and Karl Robinson ?

Not sure this a connection as such.
We've got a couple of players who are represented by them on our books at the moment, and have had a few in the past - nothing unusual about that at all.

The Moment of Truth podcast has a snippet where KR meets up with his mum and Danny Gabbidon is there following a game. Gabbidon is an Ambassador & Mentor for New Era according to their website

Sorry for missing that Q if it was directed at me before (life taken over somewhat) but as FP says above there's the personal connection with Gabbidon.

But as FP also said, this is far from unusual and Robinson is likely to have connections with many different agents and agencies.

No it wasn't this was in another thread.

Hahaha!

Mooro's suggests we're going a bit OTT on this one issue and you respond by saying he's telling you to F off, he's delusional, and he'll never eat humble pie.

You then go on to say... best to wait and see on this issue before going OTT.
Ha ha indeed...

Thank you for that, I didn't notice his response until this morning, as I was at the game last night.

I shall ignore his ramblings with the contempt they deserve

So has this story died, or do we await further revelations?
Heard the same story from 2 completely different sources at the club this week which now gives me a good idea of what happened. Perhaps an accumulation of events with one recently being the final nail in the coffin.

Stepping on toes and making decisions based on friendship over football seems to be a theme. A certain persons ranting tweets on social media may have been bitter but the likes from fellow players parents show they also had an element of truth too.

I'm sure it'll all come out eventually, or we go on a 20 match win streak and everyone forgets!

It doesn't necessarily make it true, it could just be more parents are bitter.

This isn't intended as a dig at you for posting, I don't have intimate knowledge to make a judgement either way. But, especially with social media, there's a element where a lie becoming more truthful the more it's shared.

I noticed that one of those who commented on Ms Masters posts was Scott Landers, father of Henry and a previous poster on here. He was very dismissive of the club for not giving his boy a chance, so I wouldn't give a huge amount of weight to his views.

Youth development is incredibly difficult with very many having their dreams snatched away from them at a very young age. That is devastating for them, and their parents who have inevitably been taking them to and from training sessions and games several days a week for several years. I totally understand them wanting to blame others and feeling that it's unfair. But that doesn't mean that there is wrong doing on the part of the coaches, the head of the academy, the manager or the club.

You are quick to highlight the father of a player who is playing for Banbury as reason to dismiss it, I would say his involvement is pretty irrelevant. I was talking about family members of players contracted to OUFC, not those who have been rejected or never got the chance to begin with.

A young player not making it is common, I think most parents will know that football is a cut throat business. However if I was a parent and my son was offered a scholarship, then had that revoked earlier than the rest of his scholars I would raise questions. Even more so when he is replaced by a player that the Head of the Academy deems less talented but the decision is taken out of his hands. I think that would be enough to ruffle some feathers and create some discontent, in this case some quite angry tweets.

I'm sure many will either agree or disagree but that's what I gather has created some drama here.

Well if that’s what happened and reading between the lines it would seem it is I hope the young lad eventually ends up fulfilling his dream and plays for the yellows, matty Taylor has shown it can be done.

That would imply that there is some sort of cost ceiling on the academy (one out before one in) - surely that can't be the case?

Revoked early is usual when the decision has be made to give the player chance to find a new club/ way . Awful but it happens. Mac had been unfortunate with injuries as well during his two year scholarship so that would have played a factor.
Don't think replaced as next step was being a young pro while a new scholarship goes to a 16/ 17 yo to start the process again.

Yes that would be the case usually. In this case the man who watched this player day in day out wanted him to stay but was forced to replace with him with a lower quality alternative and overruled because someone wanted to do their mate a favour.

If you were told your son was released in those circumstances despite the head of academy thinking he should still be there, you'd be fairly unhappy too I imagine.

100% Karl is a toxic man

This does sound bad, if true, but also the sort of thing that happens in most workplaces.

Don't think this is the case though if Mac M we are discussing.
2nd year of scholarship 'replaced ' by a new entrant .
I've been critical of the lack of players getting a proper chance( until now) and some of the decisions but really don't think its the case with this one.
