Eastwood - 5 - A great save from Finley and probably not much he could have done with the goal, but his kicking was atrocious. It’s never been this bad, has it?
Long - 4 - Outmuscled, outfought. Being on our side in the first half, you could see the amount of 50/50’s he pulled out of. Moore bailed him out at least 3 times in that half, didn’t really get much better after half time. Unlucky with the header though
Moore - 7 - I thought he was good, battled well and won plenty of aerial duels. A shame he got booked for being fouled and dragged down, but what did you expect from a referee as inept as the one we had?
Findlay - 6.5 - Not quite as assured as Moore and some heart in mouth moments but as a defender who needs to defend he always does that job well. It’s just everything else that needs some fine tuning. Noticed he was really losing his rag with Seddon. A fiery, no nonsense Scot at the heart of our defence.
Seddon - 4.5 - Gets .5 more than Long because his work rate and engine is top notch, arguably our fittest player, it’s just the actual ability which lets him down. Offered us a bit going forward first half but final ball let him down, second half was pinned back and just kept hoofing it out of play.
Henry - 7 - Ran the show first half and was getting in behind loads, looked to have some of his pace back which was good to see. Linked well with Browne especially. Got doubled up on in second half and our general play noticeably dropped. Should have scored with the header, and agree with some of the comments here that it’s either him or Bodin to start, not both.
Mcguane - 8 - MOTM, by some distance. So so good in possession, strong in the tackle and was still pressing in the 85th minute. It’s the Mcguane we all hoped to see and I’m so glad these first few games he’s come into his own, long may it continue.
Brannagan - 5 - Just not at it at all, nothing really came off and he was getting wound up. No cause for concern because we know how good he is, but not hit his level yet. Maybe Mcguane playing so well makes him seem a bit off it too.
Bodin - 4.5 - Didn’t really notice him until he passed the ball into their keepers hands in the second half. Thought he’d have been well up for it today, rather disappointed with what I saw, needs to hit the heights of the end of last season quickly.
Taylor - 5 - Largely anonymous but produced some quality on the ball when he had it. If only he was on the end of the cross he put in to Henry. No service whatsoever so I don’t think the 5 rating is really his fault, not sure how he didn’t win us a free kick and get their player sent off? Looked clear as day from where I was standing.
Browne - 5- First half 7, 2nd half 3. Looked on it for the first 20 and he is deceptively an absolute monster, so quick. Had their left back on toast, then just went into his shell. He’s very much a moments player rather than a 90 minute player I feel, drifts in and out. Let’s hope he can find some in match consistency and be a threat for a more sustained period.
SUBS
Joseph - 6 - I liked the look of him, won a few headers and put himself about, don’t think he’ll score too many goals but he’s gonna give us a lot of energy and the ability to play much higher up against teams that sit back. Final ball/decision making was a bit off.
Goodrham - 5 - Looked like a boy in a man’s game, struggled to be honest.
Bate - 6 - Much like Goodrham but he did show some neat touches and looks a confident lad, I think he’ll be a good player for us.
Jones + Brown not really on long enough to make an impression.
KR - 5 - The initial set up was pleasing and we were really getting in behind at will to start with. However the subs let him down again, taking Taylor off was rather baffling to me, think we’d have scored if we had him and Joseph on as more space would have opened up. Should have hooked Seddon at half time with him on a yellow, suppose he didn’t fancy Brown to bomb forward.
Ref - 0 - The less said about that c**t the better
