Summer 2018 Official Transfer Thread ****

Two possibles.

1/ they may want way to much for him at this point. But it will come down as his contract does.

2/ his wages are way above what we can afford at this level.

Kr said loans would have to be better than what we have in that position, and be player we otherwise couldn’t afford. This would tick both those boxes for me

I'm absolutely not saying this isn't a good signing. I just always prefer permanent deals, especially given what we've experienced with Baldock and Payne being recalled in recent years.

Also, these were Tiger's words, not mine ?

'For example, we have a player in mind who we already agreed a loan but we want it to be permanent. Why add value to him for another club if he does well for us for a season?'

This is not the player he was talking about ....

Happy with the signing, but I have a feeling if he does well he will spend the second half of the season at Sunderland, Lord Chippy owes the owner there a favour after all.

Decent signing even if it turns out to only be to till the new year, hope we are prepared for that possibility by then, a Kenny rather than a Buckley Ricketts as a replacement.

Fantastic signing, unless he gets recalled as Payne did. I wonder why we've started in the loan market, rather than permanent?

Because that was the one everybody was ready to complete on? Also, we started with Cameron Norman and that was permanent.

I think like Dave T said, there are occurrences when a loan is the best option, especially if it's a case of loan or nothing (wages/fee too high). I was just taking his bait because, in my opinion, it would've been preferable to have signed him on a permanent basis.

Let's hope this one pays off for all parties!

Do we know if there is a recall clause in this deal? Like you say we have been burnt in the past?

Encouraged by this signing, it had to be a loan deal, I doubt very much we are in the market for this level of player as a permanant signing.

Gotta be Kane for the player Tiger was talking about right?

And i'm buzzing with Carruthers, heard good things from a Villa supporting mate said they should have never let him go.

Great signing. Really good addition to the squad, a signal of intent and reassuring sign that we can attract very good players. Look forward to seeing who’s next over the fence.

Must of made quite an impression on him in the 3 appearances he made for Villa.
