Summer 2018 Official Transfer Thread ****

Unlike you Dave, I don’t need a puppet master(s). I see you’re struggling to let Charlie go, have you thought of seeking counselling?

I see KR is now having to change his tune in terms of transfer targets. Originally he wanted to get business done early with some of these targets not being cheap, but that now seems not to be the case on both fronts.

Let’s not forget that Pep came late in the game this time last season and look what issues that caused. I just hope that KR can perform as well as he talks because my god by the sounds of it he’s going to need it.

Personally, I don’t have a great feeling about the set up/Tiger, especially as the next bit of news we hear about our dealings in the transfer window now seem to show that KR’s initial direction has shifted again, so I do hope I’m wrong.

Now where’s that bucket and spade?!!
Every club wants to do their business early but as you and I know that's not possible unless you blow your competitors out of the water, and we are not in the position to do that. I feel we need to be patient and trust to the management team etc...we secured Bannagan for £175k in Jan18, when last summer it was rumoured Wigan were about to sign him for £1m. I am confident of a strong summer off the field and strong 18/19 on the field. And FFS STOP moaning!

Spot on. We were godawful last year. Nothing thus far suggests we will be anything different this year.

Im holding off.
Well, you either want a season ticket or you don’t, I can’t believe signing a couple of lower league strikers would make a difference either way. You’ve got till Friday before you lose your seat

I'd have like to hear KR say, "To be honest I'm not fussed about signing players before August, I mean that's when the season starts. I probably won't even bother looking before mid-July."

That way we could all relax and enjoy the summer.

Why ruin the run-up to Christmas. Let’s just go with current squad now - we can always sign a couple in January if we’re desperate.

I am confident we are not going to sign lower league stickers, unless they have huge potential to step up, if not, I dont understand why we let Wes Thomas exit. And remember with the great J OB.

It still just doesn't feel like we are close to announcing anything does it? Not linked to any players, weird soundbites from the club that look like statements for the sake of not being silent.

I am a bit concerned to be honest.

We'll only sign lower league strikers - by which I mean Div 3 or 4 (or below), or non-regulars at Championship level. Why would a Championship regular want to join us?

We are a lower league club (L1/Div 3). I trust the management to make the appropriate signing in due course. Talent that will add value to the team other the next two seasons and an asset that can be sold on, to balance the books AKA Dickie and Brannagan.

I understand that. It took Tiger long time to land KR, which I think was an inspired signing. So, I think we need to be patient. I think we are in much better position than summer 2017. I confident of deals being announced in due course. Maybe SD as No2, will be the best signing of the summer?

Plus, we signed Marvin late August, and he turned out v well, both on and off the field, and I assume the best players, and their agents, bide their time, attracting all the best offers before making a decision on who to sign for. Rather like selling your house in the booming housing market.

In terms of the paying staff we are in a worse position than this time last year due to the huge overhaul needed. This time last year we hadn't made a signing yet and Michael Appleton was still our manager (just!).

We need a lot of players and, whilst Marvin was a late one, ideally we need to get some business done early this time around. KR said as much himself.

I think anyone can see that our initial plan to strike early on our targets has not quite come to fruition. For whatever reason.

In the transfer market were not quite the draw we were as a relegation struggler last year, hence the likes of Lyle Taylor not returning our calls.

I trust in Robinson, but i suspect weve been blown out several times and are re-adjusting our sights.

I know Godden was a target who we couldnt get close to.

i keep coming back to Eastwood and his reasons given for putting pen to paper namely having seen or been told the list of players that showed our ambition.
Now either some of them were already over the line or pre contract deals agreed or else why wouldn't Eastwood wait to see if we signed them before committing himself?

These signings will be like buses. You wait for ages then three turn up. etc
