Nothing about that article says Pompey are in for him. Everything you read around Pompey at the moment is that they are penniless anyway so I'd still say we are in the driving seat for now.

But surely the club have this under control? We’ve been told countless times that they have not just one option for each position but many. Indeed, they also tell us that they plan this stuff for several transfer windows in advance.

Assuming that the Seddon rumour is true, we move onto the next choice and so on. Easy as that, right?

There’s no way we would ever be so ill prepared for the start of the season to allow key positions to be vacant and fill round holes with square pegs. No way, not us, not with all our planning and preparation.

And then somebody else comes on the market who is better than number 1. The club has previously been told he wasn't available but suddenly he is.
Do the club go for number 4 for some impatient supporters on an obscure Internet forum or try and get the best player possible?
I am amazed how easy some people seem to think it all is.

Wouldn’t be so confident with that comment. Could be a very good player in there if you find his best midfield position.

Bizarre this Sean Clare story suddenly popping up. Not seen it from what I'd consider a reliable source yet. If we can recoup the fee we paid for him or, as it seems he was wanted by a few clubs and it's being stated as a "priority signing", maybe even make a tiny profit, I wouldn't be overly upset or concerned. We're well stacked in the midfield and I don't even think we need to necessarily replace him with LCP waiting in the wings.

If he stays I hope he does really well, but if he wants to go then I won't lose any sleep over this one.

Given our lack of squad depth right now - I don’t know if I should feel reassured or concerned that we are prepared to sell a young, mobile athletic player capable of playing in/covering multiple positions to rival clubs. Surely we wouldn’t let someone so versatile leave if we weren’t relatively comfortable we’ll have at least some incomings…
