Disappointing a year to early bit like Gavin Whyte don’t know if he’s fully ready for championship football right yet still got plenty to learn imo despite getting into the L1 team of the year
I think Moore is the better defender at this very moment and would be a bigger loss, feel a good replacement would slot in seamlessly next to Moore

Wouldn’t disagree with that one bit, think we need to do another gentleman agreement like we did with Dickie put a good contract Moore’s way & in a year time (if we fall to get promoted & big clubs are sniffing about for him he gets his move as long as it’s a fair/good offer in return)

A chance for McNally to make his claim for a starting spot.
There’s a chance but going off KR comments a few weeks ago that he wants him to play along side Mousinho in pre season friendlies & EFL Trophy cup games to bed him into games doesn’t sound like he’s exactly ready just yet, plus we seemed to be linked with centre backs with games already under there belt in Jason Kerr, Jacob Bedeau

Well that sucks 1.6 plus add ons. Should be 2 plus add ons. Ideally we would have deals in place for replacements before he goes.

I highly doubt it, don't forget, as Robbo will remind us, we've got Jamie Hanson! And McNally, who has zero experience at this level, and Mous, who sadly, is now a crock. And also don't forget, Sam Long can play in multiple positions in defence, so Robbo will be more than happy with that! Defence. Sorted.

On a serious note, I'm pissed off about this, I know it's our recruitment model, to buy young, rough diamonds, polish them up, then sell them on for a profit, and I'm on board with that.

But we also need to benefit from them helping us progress on the pitch as well, otherwise we'll just be treading water forever, as if we're gonna keep selling our best players, within one season of them breaking into the first team, then whats the f*****g point, as we're gonna have to start the whole process all over again, every season, with someone else.

Mapp did it right, he brought in young players, with potential, polished them up, built a strong squad, and he made sure they stuck around long enough to help us progress on the pitch, and move up to the next level, and then they moved onwards and upwards, and so did we, on and off the pitch, it was a win win for all concerned.

Now we're just bringing young players into the club, and selling them after one season, for a lot less then they're worth, and in Atkinson's case, if he keeps progressing at the rate he has this season, a hell of a lot less than he'll be worth in a years time.

It's ludicrous, it's gonna break up our defence even more after Ruffels exit, and we're now gonna have to shop around for a new CB as well as a new LB, and by the looks of things, with the way we do things these days, if they're any good, they'll be gone in either January or next summer, and we'll have to start from scratch again.

We keep hearing all the big talk about a new stadium and becoming a top 30 club, then we sell our best prospects after one season, for peanuts.

I know there'll be some who will disagree with me, but if we want to really have success on the pitch, we can't keep leaving ourselves with such massive rebuilds each year.

Disappointing to loose Atkinson so soon but he has been a star for us so not surprised to see a team take the risk on him straight away. Get close to 2m and a decent sell on % and that will be a great deal. Get the deal done and move on ASAP with his replacement in before he leaves.

The player may well want a pay rise as well so it won't just be the club making the decision.

Has joined Burnley U23s today. Possibly a loan opportunity there but doubt that’s what we’re looking for…

Rob Atkinson had zero experience at this level a year ago and then made team of the season and is look to sell for £2m. Also Mous has recovered well from his operation and has been training throughout the closed season. His best days are behind him but he's far from being a crock.

What do you think would have happened if we hadn't been promoted? We lost Roofe anyway, but would have likely lost Dunkley and others too if we'd stayed in league 2.

£2m isn't peanuts. It's very good business and allows us to survive long enough to take the step up to the Championship.

Atkinson is not the finished article, yet. But another year, and he will be even better, and worth even more. I'm a big fan of Mous, but he's 35, and hasn't played in nearly a year, after a serious knee injury, and can't be considered a genuine first team option now.

But we did get promoted, and Roofe was sold for big bucks. I dread to think what he would've been sold for by the current regime, probably £1.5m in the January window, along with others, and we would've missed out on promotion!

But in a years time, he will be worth a lot more. Once again, we're too eager to jump the gun, and we're having our pants pulled down again.

For Atkinson, £1.6 million plus add-ons (which it is reported that we are going to get) is peanuts. His value in one or two years time will be £6mil+
This is an example where we should insist he stays for one more year, and especially so if the rumoured takeover is actually happening. Indeed, Tiger sanctioning this sale could actually scupper the takeover.

£2m for someone you isn't the finished article is exceptional! We are not having our pants pulled down, it's not peanuts, and very few league one players will go for anywhere near that amount this summer.

Atkinson may be worth more after another season, or he could have an injury like Nelson did and lose an entire season. Every player has their value and £2m for Atkinson and bringing in a player like Kerr will be very good business.

You talk of the old regime cashing in on Roofe, and for all his faults DE did sell at the top end. But Tiger et al have invested millions more than DE ever did and want the club to be sustainable. The training ground, youth and community set up all cost money. And whilst it might be spare change to some of them, they have to sell in order to reinvest under FFP.

I'm not sure what you honestly expect the club to do?
