Home Match Day Thread +++ 14/4/2018 OUFC v Southend Match Day Thread +++

Wow! As fans, I thought we f*****g rocked today... Again!
Passionate, loud and proud. Out on that pitch, they worked their asses off.
Special mention for Kane, Dickie, Lego, Thomas, Brannagan and James Henry who gave everything.
But Ricardinho? Take a bow mate, that was just football porn.

Superb day on and off the pitch.

A well deserved win from a must win game. I couldn’t see beyond a draw at best, so really chuffed to be proved wrong.

Feeling more relaxed but one more point should seal it.

Makes that last minute goal at Fleetwood feel like an even bigger kick in the B*****s.

Confidence looked way up today, so well done to KR to lift the lads after a difficult Tuesday.

Taking such a positive afternoon into the last four is a massive massive positive, along with seeing Nelson get some minutes.

Just so glad we won, because if we’d have lost we’d only be two points off of relegation!

Didn’t think it was as good as Tuesday, but the result was the main thing.

Thought Dickie was MOTM today.

Still think we’re going to need 2 possiby 3 points for safety, thus making the Rochdale game a must not lose game depending on our status after the next two away games!

We are not safe. Tuesday night is massive...
Rochdale and Oldham play each other, and each team will maintain a game in hand over us after Tuesday.

No matter what happens in our game, I think our preferences for the possible results in the other game should be:
Draw
Oldham win
Rochdale win

We should play for a draw on Tuesday, difficult to see us winning. Just got to maintain the 5 point gap, and hopefully extend it between now and the end of the season; hence why Rochdale winning on Tuesday could be disastrous, with us still to play them.

Do I think we will stay up? Yes
Do I think we are safe? No

COYY

Still think we need 3 points.

Trouble is we will get nothing at Wigan.

I think we can get a point at Doncaster

Rochdale have got their act together and I think they will survive and I see us drawing with them.

Let's hope Blackburn have been promoted and second place is the best they can get and we could snatch a draw there

Still feeling nervous

Crucial win today, particularly as other results didn’t really go our way. Pleased for the players especially after the cruel defeat Tuesday, they responded really well.

We were much more direct than in recent games, but still played a ‘diamond’ in midfield. This does leave us somewhat vulnerable on the flanks and Southend tried to exploit it, Robinson asked Thomas & Obika to each play fairly wide, and they did pretty well getting behind the ball in the wide areas when the opposition had the ball.

Henry did well at the front of the diamond, he caused them problems all game, could and should have scored at least another goal. Richardiniho run from his own corner flag to score the second goal was a superb effort, not bad for an old ‘un. Great to see Nelson back on the pitch. Dickie was my MOTM, immense, excellent signing. Brannigan, Eastwood & Mousinho also had good games.

The league table still looks a bit scary to me. This is the season that 50 points will not be nearly enough to stay up. Looking at the fixtures left for all the teams near the bottom, we have one of the hardest run-ins. It is still in our own hands though. With some relegation threatened teams still having to play each other it’s all very difficult to predict. I wouldn’t bet against Walsall slipping into the bottom 4 come the end of the season.

I think we’re going to need 54 points to be safe, or 53 points might just do it if our goal difference is superior.

It’s going to the wire.

Great win today. Nearly safe. Couple of points needed. 2014/15 season two teams were relegated with 50 points. COYY

Ledson made up for what were 2 really poor performances by being my motm today, closely followed by Dickie who continues to look the business

Loads of other lads deserve a lot of praise today but Ricardinho deserves a mention simply for that goal, really hope he's still here next year

Just back, still a bit squiffy from lunchtime. What a great day! Saw my team fighting for every loose ball and actually passing to each other! Lego and Dickie different class. Really chuffed, and still unbeaten in match day thread! ?

Not looked through this thread yet but apart from relief at the win, great team work , odd refereeing, my main thought was how great the atmosphere was for most of the game. Still think we need 2 points from 4 games, hopefully spring a shock at Wigan, and get at least 1 at Donny then we can play freely at home to Rochdale to end the home season on a high?

I think 52 points along with our gd will definitely be enough.

1 relegation place left to fight for in my opinion. I reckon 2 points is what's needed.

If i were to bet on it then i reckon us and Rochdale survive and Walsall go down.

They still have Northampton,Scunthorpe,Fleetwood and Bradford left.

Clutching at straws....

Gillingham currently on 52 points, have only picked up 3 points from last 6 games.

Their remaining fixtures Rotherham, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Plymouth.

Unlikely that they’d won’t pick up at least a point or two from those, but you never know.
