Unless people have been watching reruns of Burtons matches (and they haven't) I am not quite sure how they know 'with their own eyes' how well or badly he has done since he went there and played more centrally. So we can only really go on the stats, which seem to show he has done well.

Watching him at Oxford though, he was a poor right back and a pretty good right sided midfielder. On the basis that he combined well with Long on the right, that we need some pace on that side of the pitch and that he is already our player it would be very odd to sell him and then try to buy someone who has some pace, is good on the right and combines well with Long! Along with Agyei, he is a resource we already have that we need to use more effectively.

If KR rated Clare in midfield he would have held on to him rather than allow a loan to Burton. I think he will go out of the door. He is not the more physical improvement we need so let's not waste our budget on him. Move on and upgrade

Physically I'd disagree. He would have given us something different through the middle and wide at the end of the season which is speed. Also he appears happy to run with the ball something we missed in the middle at the end of the season.

Haven't a clue what KR thinks but his form for Burton may have impressed KR because the club will have been keeping a track of him as they do with players out on loan.

Sometimes managers would rather not be proven wrong, so you might be right.

Clare was patently not going to become a defender but when used in midfield for the last games before he disappeared to Burton, I thought you could see what might be. He made a difference coming on against Northampton and also at Plymouth where he contributed to the Sam Long goal. He looks genuinely quick.

I am not sure that amy manager wants to be proven wrong.
All managers however are entitled to have a view.
So KR may not prefer Brannagan and the Cambridge midfield player to Clate in CM and may think that a Marcus Browne type of player could be better than Clare as a wide man.
Supporters dont agree often (just look at the thoughts on Clare which are very mixed)
I thought Clare looked OK wide but no better than that.

It would at least be sensible to sound like we're planning on using Clare, rather than saying he's out the door. Because he will be wanted, and it would be good to recoup what we paid for him (close to 200k, I think).

That being said, I also hope he gets a bit of pre-season to impress, because he's still got all the qualities to succeed here, he's just not the Cadden-esque RB that we bought him in to be.

No thanks, another Barker type player, only interested if he’s got the ball at his feet, otherwise anonymous.

We can do better

I'd have him back considering he has been playing regularly in the Championship. I get how he played and his attitude just before he left was poor but that doesn't change that he would be a good player at L1 level. Could we afford his wages, I doubt it.

Not easy to know which way to go with Clare. for me i felt his passing could have been better,so many aimless balls often direct out of play and his crossing left a lot to be desired.

if he was to have a more central role then who knows but still feel his passing needs attention which might improve with a good pre seasons work

Why do we keep hankering after the ex players when they have had their day here. Let's look forward rather than keep going back Johnson had a crap attitude and we are too good for him

Not sure why all the negativity with Barker, he is way above League 1 standard and to have him with us full time would be a major coup

Let's not forget he needed time to get up to required fitness so pre season with team mates getting to know when they make runs and where will be to our benefit

Exactly if people think this then perhaps stop looking at the ££££££ we can get for them when they move on and build with them in the first place.

When he played on the right wing for us his crossing was excellent? He set up a couple of goals in fact.

I wouldn't trust my memory either! I could easily be remembering 2 or 3 good crosses and forgetting some shockers  His passing needed some work.
