Can i just ask if Sykes had not gone for the ball and folk on here (many whom don't like him) had then moaned why didn't he go for it and i or someone else said it's because he was on a yellow what would peoples answer be?

Perhaps given the constant moaning about our players and manager people will "Wait" to see if KR gets the shove and players moved on before buying tickets
1: the manager won’t be going anywhere
2: I think this summer could be very interesting with regards to recruitment if the rumoured investment is incoming
3: I might be on my own but I didn’t actually think Syke’s challenge deserved a 2nd yellow!

Simple reply from me to this is whether there was an injury or not though the free kick should’ve been taken with the ball in the correct place as with all other free kicks around the box all day with the ref stopping play and marking the relevant place to take it.
Yes, fair enough haven't looked at the exact spot where it was taken. ln terms of the ref marking it out, is that in the rules or just your opinion? As far as I believe the rules to be, players are allowed to take quick free kicks from anywhere outside the box but I stand to be corrected.

If you watch every other 1 near the box he has done all afternoon but as I said taken quickly from clear wrong place.Brighton had a goal disallowed at West Brom recently when the referee after marking both positions of ball and where the wall should be back to had actually blown his whistle to take it which they scored from and he whistled again with the ball in mid air because he realised the keeper wasn’t ready,

So I have absolutely no problem with a team taking a quick free kick in that scenario as they are entitled too. If the ball was not in the correct position that is another issue which I agree was not right. I also feel Brannagan should not have been pretending to be injured and been focused on marking their players.

So simply then shouldn’t have been a second goal for Sunderland.

Why does every defeat result in the same hysterical over reaction? Grayson is the latest person to get the "never wear the shirt again" treatment. But over the last couple of months we've seen similar thrown at Kelly, Hanson, Sykes, Shodipo, Barker, Henry, Hall, Taylor, Winnall, Agyei, Gorrin etc. Earlier this season we were told that Atkinson and McGuane were not good enough, Eastwood got dog abuse, and Sean Clare was the worst signing we've ever had (until he left when he suddenly became amazing!!)

This season is unlike anything we've seen before. There are back to back games for weeks on end with other times where its stop/start and it's hard to get any type of rhythm as a player. I think we've seen with Henry that he was knackered as well as carrying injuries, and a couple of weeks out has done him the world of good. We've also seen with McGuane earlier in the season and Brannagan more recently just how long it takes to get up to speed.

Everyone has a role to play, and everyone will make mistakes! Criticism is fair, but if we listened to some on here then we'd never be able to field a team with do many players dumped out of the club!

And this is coming on the back of a really strong performance. We battled hard and deserved at least a point away against a club likely to go up automatically whilst having several players out. It's not going to be easy, but there's plenty to look forward to with the remaining 8 games and 6 wins are certainly possible, and that may give us a chance.

Maybe a few more sycophantic drama queens are needed rather the usual miseries on here!!
Maybe because this season we have pretty much lost the same amount of games as we have won..

Yes agree, if the ball wasn't taken in the right position and if following that mistake from the ref Brannagan had not pretended to be injured and had either marked their player or stopped a quick free kick being taken then, yes, there should not have been a second goal at that point.

My point being that despite a mistake from the ref, stopping that goal was still in our hands.

The first one wasn't a yellow the 2nd one was.

It was borderline free kick which wouldn’t have been given at the other end I suspect.
Having watched it again just now, it honestly looks like a clear foul to me. Brannigan took him out. Honestly can't see any ambiguity in it.

Possibly although if in the Sunderland penalty box on an Oxford player it would’ve been play on would it not. The art of refereeing is about consistency and reading of the game of which we saw virtually none. 1 thing I always look at with a decision is would it be the same at the other end of the pitch in the same situation and sadly with Trevor Kettle the answer is no. Robinson said Kettle told him before kick off yesterday he should’ve given us a penalty and sent the Northampton player off in the 3rd minute of our recent game there. If not true it’s on tape for the relevant people to hear and do with what they wish.

I've given myself a bit of space after the game to cool off, and now sort of find myself partly agreeing with @Sinner on the second goal. Cam appeared to be attempting to slow the game down, understandably as we were a man down. They took a quick kick which we could have defended better. Wrong place? Sure. Another day it was pulled back? Sure. No different to our goal v Man City last season where we were pretty cute with a quick restart. Am I pissed off with it? Damn right. If we had done it? I'd be saying fantastic quick thinking.

That ref? As usual inept. Up there with Eric Reid and Mike Reed in shite ref performances (youngsters, ask your parents 😂)

If we can get on a run and nick the last playoff place, I'd rather face Sunderland than Peterborough or Hull. No disrespect to them, but I think the pressure of a playoff will get to them much as it did to Portsmouth last year.

Hmm maybe, Sunderland seemed a good team with excellent wingers rather than being tricksy and clever throughout, like Hull and Peterborough. I wouldn’t fancy our chances against any of them tbh.

Although I suspect had we done it yesterday he would’ve stopped play for either player laying on the ground or taken from the wrong place. In 1 of my previous posts on this thread I said about consistency which Kettle has little of when referring.

Yeah, point taken, but I'm hopeful we may have a full back (or two) available before long. Peterborough are the ones that would worry me most.
