I get that. I just asked a mate who lives in Northampton (not an Oxford fan) and he said he is puzzled with the decision. It did rain last night but not a huge amount to warrant a waterlogged pitch.
Remember Ipswich at home last season when that storm come over and the pitch was near on under water. The ground staff got the pitch playable in under 20 mins.

I just believe they didn't want to play the game and this was an easy way out.

I agree.

I really don’t think they have tried that hard to get this game on, for obvious reasons.

Couldn’t they have found a neutral ground with 4.5 hours till kick off. You got the likes of Banbury and MK nearby whose grounds aren’t being used. I’m sure for a small fee (for example part of each clubs IFollow earnings) a club like Banbury would’ve happily hosted the game.

MK would be the easiest, already set up for the cameras for Ifollow as well.

Anybody interested City are showing there trophy game v Harringey Borough for £6.99, shame no fans, if the weather holds they may have got a decent crowd with our game called off.

If they were winning games and we were on a losing run, they had all their players fit and we had a couple out would they have even called the ref to inspect the pitch after what seems a fairly normal amount of rain? Would they f**k.

Why was the pitch inspection not later on, it’s a local game with no fans attending, absolutely no need for an early pitch inspection.

Under normal circumstances, let alone this season with all that is going on, you have to accept the fact that this an outdoor sport played in rainy England, the pitches are not going to be perfect all year round. You can do things to mitigate the weather like put covers down which they don’t appear to have bothered doing, but at the end of the day at league one level you are going to have play on a few boggy pitches over the winter. Part of our football is battling through the conditions. Might have evened the teams up a bit in their favour.

It stinks, but the FL will do nothing about it as usual, they never do.

It stinks

Alan Sheehan is set to miss the game with a muscle injury and if rumours on social media are to believed
their defender Lloyd Jones is self isolating.

So far, very few games off today because of waterlogged pitches, feels like they couldn’t wait to get it called off..
Very disappointing, sure I’m not the only one who needed this game as a distraction and we‘re optimistic of a win because we’re bang on form at the moment.
The rain‘s stopped, those garden jobs are going to get battered now. On to next Saturday.

I’m gutted about this.

If all games are played and the season isn’t extended then we’re going to have a very busy period on our hands!!
I remember Newport a few seasons back had 9 postponements at their ground due to bad whether ( their ground can’t cope with bad whether ) and they were moaning like hell over having to play 3 fixtures a week to finish the season in time, and that was down to their ooor ground, now then shoot forward to 2021 with covid postponements and Chuck in a couple of unplayable pitches due to alleged waterlogged or frozen pitches, this season could become a complete farce if it hasn’t already.

update blue sky and sun in Steventon.

Also a quite of their forum

Training on pitch, Sheehan injured = fu*k all efforts to protect the pitch from rain = postponements.

Very disappointing to lose another game AND we have no match on Tuesday either.

Shrews are playing mid week so we can’t play them and we have re-arranged the Bristol R already.

Football is one of the few things that we can look forward to - a kind of escape route from this lockdown misery - but yet again
we are being deprived of another match day.
