EFL - The Covid-19 decision

Football is back come on!!! Dead f*****g nervous now.
Let's go win the fucker now

Rotherham have got lucky. We were the form team and hunting them down when the season was suspended.

However it is what it is, and now we’ve got a real chance but it will be far from easy. But at least it will be decided on the pitch and whoever goes up in the playoffs will have done it the hard way.

The players deserve a crack at it on the field of play, they’ve exceeded my expectations at the beginning of the season.

Good luck & COYY!

Congrats to Coventry, our match at the KassStad earlier this year was a lot of fun and if nothing else, they deserve promotion for their beautiful Hummel kits this season, which I have admired from afar ever since that 3-3 thriller!

People will moan about Rotherham but they were probably the best team I’ve seen us face this year, I don’t think any other team (including in the four games against premiership opposition) this season has blown us away as comprehensively as they did in that first half in January. Fair play to them, a very good side who I think would have stood the course.

I think we look strong for the playoffs. We have essentially a full squad back, and we know on paper that on our day our squad can compete with any other team in this division - and above. I might also be alone in thinking that we have maybe benefitted from this curtailment: for all our winning 5 on the bounce, I think the wins actually papered over some cracks we were experiencing at the time, and that we would have struggled to maintain that form. We needed late goals to beat one of the worst sides in the division in Southend and a limited Shrewsbury side, to whom we did very poorly to ship two goals. The only comprehensive win came over a terrible Wimbledon side, with the 3-0 over Accrington not telling the story of the game at all - they were unlucky not to come in at half time ahead, let alone be behind. We weren’t exactly sweeping aside all comers.

The playoffs have fallen pretty favourably too. For all we like to have a laugh at DMac’s expense, Posh were unquestionably one of the form sides of the division, and had League One’s finest player (sorry, CamBran) leading the line. They would have been my pick to win the playoffs had they been in them. As it is, I really think it’s between us and Pompey. Exciting times!!

Good post. Sums it all up nicely. I cant escape the gut feeling itll be us and Wycombe in the final..

One thing that has struck me as really important is the players getting used to playing in an empty stadium. A lot of players from other clubs are saying that they are playing practice games 11v11 in their stadiums to get used to the ‘emptiness’. I guess thats a disadvantage we’re going to have to put up with. I cant see good old FK letting us practice at Grenoble Road..
