General Jan transfer window

Seeing as it's now unacceptable to put anything but 100% guaranteed facts on here, I'll try to add a little information!

I'm was sure that we would do business for a right back this week, but with Friday being a travelling day, it shortens the training week a little and a deal may push into early next week. I would put a big chuck on it being Stephen O'Donnell on a permanent deal. However, there is also an option of a young full back on loan but the worry is the number of loanees.

Striker options are very difficult to nail down as nearly everyone of interest is being followed by several clubs. There has been one name I've heard from a PL academy that would be a good signing, but at least one Championship is also interested and I'd rate it as optimistic at best. It would be a step up from Ageyi but very similar style of player. However, the thinking is now to find an established league 1 ready striker if possible. I would like to see Jerry Yates, but Brett Pitman has been mentioned in recent days (as always). I have no idea who yet, but sure that this will go to the wire.

The third deal that I'm sure will happen will be a reserve left back/utility type player. Again, no information but this is unlikely to be a headline signing.

Hope that's of some interest, sorry if it's not!!

Aren’t you just telling us stuff we already know ? If you do genuinely have any idea I’d be impressed if you put forward a new name. I’ve seen you say before that you can’t mention names (really not sure why as I assume your christian or surname is not Scotchegg !) yet here you are saying O’Donnell - surprise surprise a name we ALL know is on our radar.

I've said before that many names are mentioned in passing and I wouldn't give them much weight. Others feel much more imminent. I confirmed that Kelly and Holland were done deals a week or more before EC Yellow did, so it's not entirely guesswork! You're right that Stephen O'Donnell has been mentioned several times before but I've not seen many saying the deal will happen, but that is what I've been saying for over a week (actually expected it done last week!). But time will tell I guess!

Hope so, however why would Rotherham sell to a promotion rival? Rotherham also have the option of an additional year so we would be parting with some decent ££££

It could also be argued that Yates scoring for Oxford against league 1 rivals will benefit Rotherham more than him being on their bench. But you're right, he wouldn't be cheap but not as expensive as Cadden!

O’Donnell deal is off.

O'Donnell's contract is up in summer so wonder if he's the one whose manager wanted to keep until the end of season, if so we might get him on the free?

Disappointing that we are to miss out on O’Donnell. Potentially getting him on a free in the summer is all very well, but it is too late for this season’s promotion charge.

Definitely NOT financial guys. Repeat definitely NOT financial.
do you really believe that?
KR has shown us this week how difficult transfers can be.
take Agyei for example - another team could’ve been waiting for him to go out on loan but now looks like he may stay here. deals fail for all sorts of reasons and yes even because of finances sometimes.
but after the investment this season i don’t think we can use that excuse to have a dig at the club
