General Jan transfer window

When you make challenges like that you deserve all the criticism in my opinion. Completely stupid and unprofessional.

We beat a bloody good team and are 3rd in the league. We aren't Man United. We aren't crying out for anything other than a very quiet transfer window.

Crying out for maybe a bit strong but I’d say if we had a whyte/Browne to come off the bench for the final 30 in the last few we’d have put the game to bed.

If we were so minted that we could afford a whyte or Browne on the bench we would be 10 points clear by now

I also think that Karl has one eye firmly on the Championship next season in the Jan window. He will have learnt a lot from his time at MK Dons when they came straight down and would love to do some decent business now rather than in the summer to build continuity for next season.

Can’t help thinking we need another top class finisher if we are going to stay the distance. It might cost us a small fortune but we are so well primed to make a serious push and chances like this can’t be squandered. Taylor is in a bit of a lean spell (as are the team) and it just shows you that if he’s off it then we have no other striker to help out goal wise.

Our lack of firepower is being camouflaged by a ridiculously mean defence. Can it last ? Great if it can but it’s a fine line.

We'll be fine on the goals front I reckon as most of our goals come from midfield/widemen anyway.

Our goal threat is that they come from all over rather than just a few major goalscorers. New wingers allowing Fosu to have a break will help as well. Also, Matty Taylor will come good again, he is just having a bit of a dry spell.

There were always going to be spells where we have to grind out results if we are to get that automatic promotion we all crave.

For the first time in a few years, it looks like we might be getting the first pick of the PL Academy talent in the January window.

We might even beat out a few Championship clubs for promising loanees. Everyone in the Premier League will know that we can play the right 'brand' of football to help develop their youngsters.

As we approach the new year and just about half way through the season, and lying 3rd in the table, it’s beginning to dawn on even the most pessimistic fans that we have a genuine chance of promotion this season. Exciting times for sure.

It’s over 20 years since OUFC last gained promotion to the 2nd tier of English football. Many of our younger supporters will never have seen us play at that level.

The board, management and players all have to be commended for getting us into our current position. However the board now have some difficult, interesting and potentially exciting decisions to make.

We have players such as Dickie, Brannigan and Baptiste who can and will surely play at a higher level. I’d be amazes if we don’t receive enquires/bids for some of these players in January.

The board have an interesting balancing act to perform. The future financial stability of the club balanced against a ‘once in a generation’ prospect of promotion to the Championship.

KR obviously loves his wingers but could see someone like Neco Williams coming in from RB.

Bringing in Prem loans is all good but they essentially have to be first team ready as they need to immediately make an impact. Players like Nya Kirby, Herbie Kane etc have all been in ooan in the league previously so are quite well placed.

Certainly plenty of talent in the academies that could improve us!

Think KR just needs to say (to Derby etc) "Look, we are a L1 side but next year we will be Championship - either as champions (because we are the best side in the league) or at worst up in 2nd - so you are talking about buying a TOP CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER who is integral to getting promotion, and isnt for sale!!"

If we sold Brannagan, Dickie, Baptiste for say £10m many would day "good business for a L1 side" - but we then probably fall short this year - we are the form side and need to be investing in the long term by pushing to go up this year - start thinking of ourselves NOW as a Championship club and refusing silly L1 prices for Championship quality players. If we go up, those guys could bring £10m each

some big decisions for players and the club over the next month...would be disappointed if they leave for 1 or 2 of those sniffing around and this place would be in meltdown.

Even in the summer, with 12 months left on their contracts, IF we fell short, we'd still get 3 million for Brannagan/Dickie combined.

It's worth keeping them and see where we are in the summer. If we're in the Championship, they either sign new contracts, or go to a Prem club for bigger bucks.

I actually think Dickie and Brannigan are more important players to OUFC in our current league and position than Baptiste is, and yet Baptiste is justifiably the more valuable player in my opinion.
