So who should we approach or Interview ?

Seems to me there are quite a few managers out there who had relative success at say league 1 or 2 (where they were afforded more time) who then took a job at a bigger club and it didn’t work out.

The failure at the bigger club appears to overshadow the success that came before. I think a lot of us fixate on the manager’s most recent job, which if they’re out of work is usually a ‘failure’

Luck must come into it too, injuries to key players definitely. Some managers just seem to fit well at certain clubs.

Appointing a new manager is so important yet it is far from an exact science, gut feeling can sometimes be just as important as an impressive CV. Nothing is guaranteed.

But if you were a manager looking to rehabilitate your reputation (as all of the out of work ones are!) then would you look at the club and worry whether the uncertainty over the ownership might mean you'd sign up and then and then find new owners/investors would want somebody else? Would you look at the squad and see a mixture of good players (some of whom are likely to leave in the summer), Pep's old crocks (many/all of whom will leave in the summer) and loanees (who - guess what - will leave in the summer) and think that it's a huge rebuilding job with what is possibly a very tight budget? I'm not saying the job isn't an attractive one (if you are out of work, ANY job is an attractive one!) but there are significant problems at the moment and mangers - like players - are pragmatists, they won't have yellow tinted glasses on as we tend to.

The more I think about it , the more tisdale becomes my favourite . Yes it may be hard to tempt him away. But you never know, if we offered him the same chance here as he has had at Exeter, ie shape the club from top to bottom, bring the academy up to speed along side Harris. Very good tactically, certainly has more than a plan a. Good record of bringing youth through . He might be comfortable at Exeter, but if he has a little bit of ambition to go higher he might just be tempted to try it at a bigger club

It won't be DE decision whose incharge of recruitment it doesn't take 5 weeks to recruit a manager especially when the statement released when PEP was sacked that recruitment had started. It feels like Eales isn't the one making the decisions but speaking on behalf of someone. 5 weeks? Everyother team that sacked there boss has replaced them within 2 weeks.

We're end up with an English version of PEP like Michael Beale, I'm happy to be proved wrong and it to go right but if it were Beale, he's currently working with 6 to 12 year olds at Liverpool, if he were that good of a coach surely he'd be in some sort of a management role. Is someone like that going to be able to sort out our fraile defense and our midfield that gets overran easily. Need someone that's been higher up the divisions Warburton no 1 choice if we want to be near championship in next 2 seasons.

Did hear a rumour in the East stand that an appointment has been made but it won’t be until after the Plymouth game that it will be announced.

I'm currently quite close to Exeter, I'm happy to give the cravat a lift back to gods county on Monday, should it be required

which ties up with what was said in the week on I think, Rad Ox, about Faz remaining as Caretaker for the next ten days (3 games- including yesterday)

How about Stuart McCall. Very passionate and won 45.8% of the games managed at Bradford City. Left them sixth in the table

I said in an earlier post that I wouldn't want Bellamy as manager. However there is an article about him in today's Mail on Sunday which said he came so close to being Wales' manager and that the presentation he gave was of the highest quality and it was only a matter of time before a football league club snapped him up as he has all the attributes. So maybe I was a bit hasty in my judgement of him. Maybe he could be the answer to our managerial vacancy after all.

I have to say that after being originally against Bellamy, all that I’ve read on his management credentials has been very positive. After witnessing yesterday’s match however, I’d say we really could do with someone more experienced to sort it all out

On twitter

Thai businessman Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth, rumoured for some months to be leading a group interested in buying Oxford Utd, watched as #oufc were beaten 2-1 by Bristol Rovers.

Steve McLaren applied in the summer and was very keen, so don't dismiss him out of hand.
If he shows up ring the Samaritans..if you thought Clotet was analytical you haven't see his half time pep talks/flip chart tactics as seen on webcam.

Steve McLaren is apparently the front man for a consortium looking to buy a football club according to one paper.
