Home Match Day Thread +++ 31/08/2019 L1: OUFC vs Coventry City +++

Those lads who made pathetic attempts to get at the Coventry fans in the north stand need to get a grip. They behave like this all the time, it's always the same lads and if there was a real fight I bet they would wet themselves!

There were kids getting scared there yesterday and they are our future so we don't want them being scared off attending.

If those lads really want a fight then they can go off and find one.

I think Eastwood has been teriffic for us. But he has looked a bit slower off his line, and on his feet, in the last 6-9 months. I would have expected him to get to the free kick. It was decent but was a very long way out and I don't think (?) he was unsighted...

I wonder how much of Eastwood’s off field situation is effecting his performance?

If this is the case they should be barred from the stadium and from away games, it's people like this that give club a bad name.

Well said i hope they realise how silly they looked

To be fair its not the first time things like that have happened in the north stand, if I had kids who were likely to be scared I’d sit them in the East or South stands. That’s not to defend or excuse it, but parents should know not to sit nervous children right next to the away fans where trouble could arise.

Did his wife not sell the sofa?

Thought he should have done better with the free kick, but he made up for it with the one on one save.

Just think his positioning for free kicks has been questionable. He seems to leave too much space on the wall side of the goal. If he stands another half a yard I think he gives himself a better chance of saving it/them.

This is why moving the “family stand” to the north wasnt the brightest move from the club.

There’s no doubt we’ve got a pretty decent squad of players.

We’re just lacking one or two with genuine pace to keep the opposition on their toes. Against Coventry Fosu & Baptiste made a difference when they came on, Fosu with his trickery and Baptiste for his power and presence, plus the Sky Blues were noticeably tiring. But on the whole our breaks and attacking play were not quick enough enabling the opposition to regroup and get players behind the ball.

Technically Henry and Forde are good players, but very rarely go past players, Cadden clearly gives Henry that option. Whilst on the other side of the pitch Ruffels doesn’t offer the same overlapping. To my mind a player such as Whyte or Browne would make all the difference to this team.

Anyone know if Agyei is particularly quick?

He is supposed to be very quick over short distances and very powerful.
Fosu had personal problems and didnt train much last week which I assume is why he didnt start yesterday.
Both Forde and Henry are good players but I suspect that one of them will be in the side and one on the bench and then either Fosu or Agyei.

Agyei is meant to be quick from what I've read.

The amount of crosses we are getting into the box and the amount of corners we are racking up would suggest that Forde and Henry don't need to go past players with speed to deliver a good ball into the box...Whyte had speed but his end product was poor last year, we now have Forde, Henry, Cadden, Brannagan who can all deliver a fantastic ball...Fosu and Baptiste are the players to drive past the opo...5 of those 6 players are also ours...

Whyte may have had a mixed end product but I’d still start him in any Oxford team even if every other player you mentioned was fit...

It's crazy isn't it?

We've got a genuinely ambitious board, trying to finally sort our stadium issues out once and for all, and probably already dealing with the councils concerns of disruption from fans on match days, and then these braindead morons behaving like this.

That's hardly gonna help things along is it, it's just gonna make an already difficult and sensitive issue, even more difficult to get over the line.

Grow up, represent the club you're supposed to support, or b****r off!!
