General 2019/20 First Team Squad

Baz, I remember that we have players that do good things.

Do you remember that goal Mackie scored vs Bradford? We clearly don’t need a striker
Sam Long has earned his start, to many people seem to think Sam did ok but he’s not for us. Every position has to be looked at for improvement but what we have are good players and to many write them of. I’m more than happy with Sam Long at Right Back, likewise I’m more than happy with Mackie as a striker for his shithousery but we can do a lot better regarding a forward who will score more than Mackie purely and simply because of Mackies age and his injuries. Simple really

Just as you believe we need a new striker, I believe we can improve at right back also...not high priority but in time. KR even stated he wants a RB also...which Cadden can play. Simple really

Lik on people want a LB, but I’m sure JR did a more than adequate job like SL. Simple really

So do you want a team of adequate players?
Adequate could mean they’re more than capable of holding they’re own and progressing. Yes we need more players but the full backs we have are more than capable of holding down their place in the side.

But my point is that if we have the chance to improve on those positions then we should. A striker and CB are priority but that doesn’t mean everyone else’s spot is guaranteed

Of course not no one should think their place is safe all I’m saying both our full backs I would be happy with. Our priority has to be 2 strikers a left sided CB and a versatile CB.

I pretty much agree with both of you.

Priorities for the team, in order:
Starting left centre back.
Starting centre forward.
Back up centre back.
Starting right back
Back up centre forward.

Doesn't necessarily mean that's the order in which we have to sign them. Hopefully, not too many of them will be loans.

Who's this Wimborne striker Baz?

I'd say starting right back is more important then a back up Centre back. Long done well last season but needs competition and a more attacking option.

Luke O'Neill probably best right back option for us. Released by Gillingham. 3 goals 6 assists last season. Rejected contract apparently.

I agree that we can improve on areas within our team but every club says that at the end of every season. I actually think Long is a more than adequate full back who will get better as he plays more. To get better we will need to spend and this is where the problem lies. We have no more than a competitive budget which I think needs to be spent on a class striker, Evans or McNulty would be my choice, and a centre back to replace Nelson, no idea who.
I know Long may have limitations as an attacking outlet but that will improve and the question I ask is what is the point in spending money on an overlapping full back when the crosses he puts in are not being converted by a quality striker. So lets get our priorities sorted, that is the club not us fans who will have different views, and then look at improving other positions.

After further thinking I think a LB should be a bigger priority than RB, for RB we have Long and Hanson and U23 players, whereas with LB we only have Ruffles, also think we can get better than Garbutt, just put him in there as we were interested in, also with Cadden think he is more of a winger than a RB, again I put him in as we are linked with him

Kevin Berkoe the new U23 player is back up to Ruffs.
