Away Match Day Thread +++ 22/01/2019 Bury v OUFC Checkatrade Trophy +++

Come on Tony. Were not avoiding relegation are we.

I know that this is contrary to your 'We're Doomed' narrative.....but yes, I think we probably will avoid relegation.

There's a bunch of thoroughly mediocre-to-poor teams in League One this year, who could have a bad run and get themselves relegated. Frankly everyone from Fleetwood in 8th on down.

We have shown on, admittedly rare, occasions this season that we can actually play at times. Saturday against the league leaders being a prime example. We need half a dozen performances like that over the last 18 games, plus a handful of scrappy draws. I think that's more likely than not.

Bookies seem to have us at 3/1 against to get relegated at the moment.

Dickie could be a good centre back, a good right-sided centre back but it is really difficult to play on the 'wrong' side, even for top top centre backs.
Spot on. I think we have needed a natural left sided CB all season. We dont have a CB who is comfortable playing there.

Browne not taking part in the warm down, possible hamstring!

And no KR (yet) for a post match interview on RadOx

No we are down, one point off with a game in game hand and 18 matches to play there maybe, but we just lost in a cup competition so we are down.

We might go down, it’s definitely a possibility, but it’s ridiculous to give up now as we don’t have to be very good to stay up, just slightly less mediocre than 4 sides in a league with about 8 poor teams in it, hardly mission impossible.

After that we deffo can’t afford another poor summer transfer window however, 3 in a row would see us down and out, whether Robinson is the man to be in charge for next season is a big question.

People will say we can focus on the league, that we never wanted to win anyway. Try and spin a positive.

But weve just been hammered by Burys reserves and are back in the bottom 4.

Time to accept were down, and start planning accordingly. Including minus Robbo.
Yeah, throw in the towel in January- great game plan!

With no game on Saturday, it makes not resting the side a little more justifiable. But it does seem odd that for ages KR has been moaning about his lack of squad depth (of which he must take some of the blame for), and yet when there's a chance to rest players he doesn't go for it.

Stating the bleeding obvious I know - but the next nine days are very important. It's obvious there are weaknesses and we all know where they are.

Look at the result and performance and the league table jesus Christ. At what point should people start to show emotional fragility?!

We beat the team who are top of league one on Saturday, in a much bigger game.

When did people start having meltdowns about results in the paint pot? It’s never been a competition for much of a reaction whatever it’s form, don’t see why that would ever change.

Because it was our first team against a league 2 team that were resting their best forwards
