I can’t help but think that something fundamental is not quite right within the squad/behind the scenes.

Robinson’s decision making is baffling. Numerous players are being played out of position including: Clare, Obita (played most of his games at full back for Reading, Henry in a CM role (despite being quite brilliant from the right last season). That’s not to mention Cooper not making the match day squad and Taylor being replaced by Winnall when 1-0 down with 30 minutes to go.

Mousinho HAS to play, currently. For me, Obita moves to left back, Mous and Moore at CB with Long at full back.
Ruffles is a shadow of the player he was last season and Clare cannot currently defend adequately at LG1 level. Both need to be removed from the firing line for the time being.

make no mistake, I’m usually a glass half full supporter but right now, I’m incredibly concerned about the rest of this season.
Completely agree .

I agree with the principle but disagree with the detail

Claire was bought as a RB by the recruitment committee so rightly or wrongly he is not out of position

Obita hasn't played enough minutes to be relevant

Henry has had enough games at RW and been just as ineffectual

Mousinho i agree but only if he's fit to play but it doesn't look like he is
Mous doesn’t look anything like being fit to play if he doesn’t even wear the kit as a sub. I suspect it would have taken an emergency for him to come on.

According to some on here he has nothing to do with recruitment.
Thats not what was said though was it mate?

What was said was he is one voice on the committee

It includes the scouts/analysts and the chairman who approved the budget

Very strange for him to distance himself from something he is solely responsible for...or are you calling him a liar?

We need Mous on the pitch to lead the team , incidently he was one of our stand out players last season until Injury. Get the defence solid as a must ...keep giving away goals in the first 30 mins is leaving an uphill task...staying up is what we need to concern ourselves with.

That may be the formal set-up but you're surely not suggesting that KR's voice is anything but the most powerful and influential in that set-up?
We're talking about OUFC not effing Rael Madrid!!!

I feel sorry for Sean Clare, he's gonna be on the end of so much stick and will be consistently singled out as a poor performer.

The problem is that he's not a right back, has never played at right back (a few stints as a wing back) and is trying to learn it every game. He's going to be making mistakes multiple times a game and he looks so uncomfortable.

Yet at times when he goes forward you can see has pace, can get round a man, can get a cross in and can make some good runs. For me he looks like he'd a useful winger at this level and something we're lacking. It's a shame we'll keep persisting with him in a position he can't play in.

The recruitment has been woeful, we paid how much for Clare and gave him a 3 year contract as a right back ??? He certainly has been a gamble that , at r/b ,just has been a failure .
Add in all of the summer signings and apart from Mide ( poor today ) not one of them has impressed ....Kip did call it.

Exactly what im saying. Unless you think Karl owns the club and writes the cheques?

Valid, but whether you're a full back or a winger or whatever, when you lose the ball you do you're absolute damndest to get the bloody thing back and don't just jog after the guy...it was more than once tonight as well.

Faz was moved from coaching to scouting in the summer, and there lies the biggest problem. Robbo needs to swallow his pride, grovel, apologise & beg Faz to come back to coach the 1st team. And then get Faz heavily involved in the recruitment process for getting a replacement coach in for next season.
Who's choice was it though?

Player ratings:

Eastwood: 5 - One good save, but beaten easily for both goals, and should have done more for the first especially. Why does he keep playing no matter how badly he does?

Ruffels: 4 - One good ball in which Winnall wasted but overall again he looks off the pace and lacking in confidence. Why does he keep playing no matter how badly he does?

Long: 4 - At fault for the goal and kept giving the ball away.

Moore: 4 - Lost possession too many times, including dribbling a couple of times where he could have been punished

Clare: 3 - At times in the second half he showed some good play coming forwards including one great cross but overall he was very poor. He can’t defend. He needs to play further forwards or just constantly bomb forwards and not bother defending because he can’t. Why does he keep playing no matter how badly he does?

Gorrin: 8 - Can’t see how much more he could have done, tackled well, should never have been booked.

Sykes: 6 - Worked hard at least. No idea why he came off. Yet another strange decision for Robinson.

Forde: 3 - Unusually poor from him.

Henry: 3 - What did he do? Absolutely nothing. He should be dropped, but I doubt he will be. He should have been subbed, but he wasn’t.

Shodipo: 4 - A game of two halves, a 2/10 first half and a 6/10 second half makes a 4/10 overall. Couldn’t have been worse first half but improved when moved onto the right hand side.

Taylor: 5 - Didn’t have any service. Could easily have scored a couple in the second half with the crosses which were played in.

Subs:

Winnall: 1 - Missed an easy pass, missed headers, then went off injured. Bringing him on was the epitome of dull, uninspired, stupid management. Went off injured which made sure we weren’t getting back into the game.

Obita: 5 - Looked lively but didn’t play any great balls in. Needs to play left back.

McGuane: N/A - not enough time

Karl Robinson: 1 - It’s hard to see how he could reasonably have done worse. No Cooper in the squad - madness. Wrong starting 11 picked. Wrong subs. Awful.
Good summing up. Pretty much how I saw it.

Leon Chambers-Parillon must be in the squad ahead of Winnall as back up for Taylor, for the rest i think KR puts the names in a hat and plays who comes out. After tonights performance the Crewe keeper might just as well gone and sat in my seat in the stand for what he had to do.

Leon Chambers-Parillon is not a forward, he is a midfielder.

So the owner should sack himself?

Football managers are responsible for what happens on the pitch, if Robinson agreed to the transfer system then he has to work with what he has or he shouldn’t have signed the new contract.

He needs to give players a chance based on merit not whether he wanted to sign them.

Sorry you've lost me. All clubs the budget and player signings are approved and paid for by the owner. Managers sign their personal contracts for job security not because they are accepting responsibility for the actions of the club owner. All managers want bigger budgets and better players.

Question now is can Taylor play 6/8 match’s over the next 3/4 weeks with no cover for when he gets tired?
