Ding dong. VAR gives France a penalty
If VAR gives that as a penalty, why didn't they ping Pepe for cheating last night on the Spanish first goal? He went down looking to get Costa a red card by simulating an elbow.
And again, players are falling over with little contact or making it worse. Bunch of cheating gits. VAR should be used both ways, otherwise it's just an unfair tool to beat defending teams with. They set the precedence with penalties now
Ps. Didn't see France game earlier, just seen clips
Agree. There were occasions yesterday where Iran and Morocco players were blatantly cheating by falling over and over simulating contact to get the opposition booked or sent off. It's trying to gain an advantage and VAR should be all over it. If a defender did a sly tug of a jersey, VAR would not hesitate to step in.With you on that. If VAR is to be used, let’s use it for instances of simulation too.
I think refs tend to be too lenient when it comes to diving. Yellows tend to be shown in instances of players taking a dive in the box or around it. Since simulation is an irritating blight on the modern game, let’s punish offenders wherever it happens on the pitch.
Thought France were a bit jammy today and need a bit of a rejig with personnel. Two DMs and a CB at RB won’t see them progress too far.
Iceland equalising against the argies was enjoyable, certainly more enjoyable than the last time I saw them score 2 years ago.
Argentina denied an obvious penalty. They didn’t go to VAR for it.
Eh?
