National News The Brexit Thread 🇬🇧🇪🇺

You're getting the EU and the Euro mixed up. Easy mistake for the ill informed.

The Euro is the currency the EU wishes to impose on all members to adopt.

"By adopting the euro, the economies of the euro-area members become more integrated. This economic integration must be managed properly to realise the full benefits of the single currency. Therefore, the euro area is also distinguished from other parts of the EU by its economic management – in particular, monetary and economic policy-making."

Political, policy, and financial control are what they want and a driver of why we left.

None so blinkered as those who can not see.

And yet there are countries who don't have the Euro just as we didn't. None so foolish as those who believe the lies.

We are just not sure we want to be a third world economy to achieve it. Political policy and financial control by the Tory party are taking us there, faster than Corbyn would have. Jesus, all the would be Tory leaders were all saying it's been a complete shambles. It s going to be a bit of a problem if Remainer Truss gets hold of the keys to No 10.

It's a currency that EU countries can make a sovereign decision to adopt if they choose to do so. Nothing wrong with choice.

You could say it puts the sovereign into sovereignty! 🤣🤣🤣

(Although I must add I personal was never and still am not an advocate of the Euro due to the increasing ineffectiveness of interest policy when applied to very large areas where one may be in recession (needing rate reduction) at the same time another area may be booming and in need of rate increases. It's a problem that blights the USA)

19/28 (a majority - that word again) do - and those that do not will be relentlessly pressured into doing so.

As @QR just posted you can not make "one size fits all" across a vast area without consequences at the opposite ends of the economic see-saw where one countries gain plunges another into chaos.

Said it before - nothing wrong with Turkey. Lovely country, strong leadership, discipline - socio-conservative-Taliban..... and National Service.:love:

EU Army? They want it, it will happen, this is how it starts.... https://futureu.europa.eu/processes/ValuesRights/f/12/proposals/299?locale=en

So basically what you're saying is that Brexiteers are snowflakes who can't stand up to a bit of pressure.

How terribly un-British[emoji1787]

19/28. Which contradicts your earlier post.

OK genuine question.

If are passengers are stuck in 5 hour border check queues before they check in for their ferries why it this being laid at the door of French customs officials?

Do we have French border staff operating on our soil? or

Is this the biggest bullshit excuse of all time? or

Is this one of the worst pieces of journalism of all time?

(or am I missing something bleeding obvious 😔)

Yeah...I think we've all got your position on fascist regimes...and you think you're centerist[emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Turkey is a presidential representative democracy - they even hold referendums, if the motion passes parliament with a 2/3rds majority.

You might want to take a closer look at how Kemalism works in a multicultural, multireligious country and how governance is structured from muhtars to presidential elections before throwing the "fascist regime" card. 🤷‍♀️

A strong leader who defers to the core principles of their governance is not a "fascist" by default.

Guessing that ships can't leave our end if there is a backlog in Calais, causing the delays? Or maybe because the French are on a go-slow the turnaround times for ferries to head back is extended, meaning they are late our side for sailing times?

...or maybe just good old-fashioned buck passing.

Sounds like a lack of communication - things are improved on one side to improve flow then get "pinched" on the other.

Maybe the French are having the same issues recruiting suitably vetted staff to do the job after they left the EU? :ROFLMAO:

Or the Cheese Eating Surrender Monkeys are playing silly buggers. ;)

The report is now twice its original length and is giving more info. Now says volumes are the highest since they started tracking the numbers in 2014.
