Come on, let’s have a strong wow signing today please, to see us into payday weekend!

A specialist LB/LWB or striker please. 🙏

He had further to go than most..

Your disdain for Moore is obvious, what I find bewildering though is that there are at least 11 other players I can think of from last season who were worse than him, more inconsistent than him and shirked responsibility more than him. It wasn't his best season but he's a warrior and he we had very, very few of those last season.

You're wrong, Dick. One of his traits is his ability to disappear, switch off. Brown's a warrior, so's Long - can't you see the difference?

No, I can't. Brown is suspect aerially whereas Moore is a colossus, he puts his head on everything. I agree that Long is whole hearted but with your sensible head on you aren't picking him over Moore surely ?

Only one player won a higher proportion of headers that Moore last season in the whole league, seven won more headers per 90 and seven had a better ratio of tackles vs being dribbled part. Not bad for a guy who disappeared - imagine if Manning gets him to stick around

They're interesting stats, who was the player who won more headers ? In those games under Manning, in particular, I genuinely don't think I saw him lose a header. If he can find that level of performance again then there will be few, if any, defenders better than Moore in L1 this coming season. He's not the easiest on the eye - like a Dickie, Atkinson, McNally etc - and I'd liken him more to Jake Wright or a blast from the past, Gary Briggs, defenders who do what the job sheet says - defend.

Eoghan O'Connell, who then left in Jan so numbers could be swewed by not playing as many minutes.

From when Manning came in Moore is clear at the top for headers won %,

Yanic was disappointing last year, but he is still one of ours. So perhaps we might want to ease off a little. I know some people like to have a public enemy number 1, but let’s at least give him a chance first. It’s a long shot, but he might prove many wrong after a proper pre-season.

P.s.Why i am an Oxford fan - eternal hope and optimism, regardless of merit!
Has he not had a chance so far? This is all a bit fluffy and lame - it's not public enemy number one and it's not personal, it's just a fair observation he's been miles off the standard while hoovering up a ridiculous wage. People will talk about him. Ok, so he didn't have a full pre season but after his return from injury he had plenty of minutes and ended up featuring in 23 games - pre season only gives you 4 or 5 and apparently they're just a kick about for fitness so what's his excuse for being just as poor at the end of the season when he should be match sharp? He's featured in these pre season games and looks exactly the same player - heavy, clumsy, slow and lost. He's got 4 or 5 players ahead of him now and if I didn't know any better I'd say he's been firmly parked and the minute we get a sensible opening to offload him, he will be gone and rightly so. We're not a charity.

When you look at how Manning marginalised him more with each passing game last season, it's not just forum members who have this view.

He had an horrendous injury last year where his muscle was torn off the bone. He was out for months and was never fully fit but thrown in to the chaos at the end of Robinsons time and desperation at the beginning of Mannings reign. He wasn't marginalised, he was replaced because he wasn't fit enough.

There were glimpses of what he could do, and if fully fit and properly managed then there is every chance that he can play his part this season.

You keep say things like "this is Mannings view" when you have absolutely no idea what he thinks. The fact that he has been included all the way through preseason and offers to take him on loan have been declined would suggest that Manning is maybe a little more charitable than you.

Sorry I disagree with your comment about Brown being suspect in the air. I think he’s one of our best and yes I did see every home game last season and a few away

You'd expect someone like Brown to be dominant in the air playing LB as he'd mainly up against wingers. I don't think he'd be anywhere near as dominant as Moore playing regularly at CB.

Just got a klaxon notification from the OxMail but it was a repeat of yesterday’s, so disappointed
