My point?
Cllr Walker has been a Conservative Councillor since 2017, and the Conservatives had control of OCC for decades prior to that.
Between May 2017 - when he was first elected - and May 2021 - when his party was voted out of power - he said next to nothing in his capacity as a Councillor about a new stadium, despite the club 'noticeably stepping up efforts' to find a location in 2018, a quarter of the way in to his first stint as a Councillor.
Now that his party are in opposition, all of sudden he can barely contain himself, it's really simple, what's the jolly hold up? Does he want a stadium without any conditions attached? Like the Kassam was?
Why didn't he and his Conservative colleagues do anything when he was in power and had the chance to?
I suspect it's because this sort of project is much easier to support while in opposition than it is while in power, where you have to do the *actual* work instead of just watching, tutting, and releasing statements about delays without being privy to the actual discussions.
