New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Are you the old prolific Eric from back in the day on here? if so welcome back
I think that Eric Read from TiU is on here and fairly prolific. If its who I think it is, he was posting on the dot counting posts last week and has been on this thread too (apologies if wrong there!).
BTW - Eric Read was the ref at the game where our fans threw on a smoke bomb that stopped Roy Burton seeing / stopping a Scummer goal 41 years ago and then got hit by a coin thrown by the away end. Basically of the two Eric's in question one is famous for 1984 and the other was infamous in 1982!!

its ended now - though there is a link via the stadium launch pages on the OWS to submit questions- or go to the exhibition in person and submit that question?
I asked the expansion question too. They did say all questions would be answered even if not done so on the zoom. But don't know where the answers would be shown?

I asked this via the chat option but wasn’t picked up due to so many other questions. Will have to ask this when visiting the exhibition.
I suspect they may be tight-lipped on that topic. It wouldn’t be popular with those opposed to the plan and would undoubtedly used for scaremongering purposes.

So a summary of this evenings Stadium Zoom meeting:
Rail Seating ( previously safe standing) will be provided for home and away fans.
The stands will be close to the pitch.
The rake and angle of seating will the best available without inducing vertigo.
The bowl has been so designed to keep the noise and light within- therefore enhancing the atmosphere inside the stadium and in so reducing same outside .
There probably won’t be a yellow brick road colour scheme outside, as the scheme needs to attract attendees to the hotel and conference centre - but plenty of yellow and blue inside.
Planning probably submitted by the end of November.
ROAD CLOSURE :no formal decision, will be part of discussions with road traffic management ( OCC?).
Frieze way currently under-utilised , so would be able to handle any additional traffic caused by same .
Most stadiums have some sort of match day traffic management in place.
90% active travel target still very much in place- but will be about changing long standing travel methods.
Will definitely not be 2 days every week ( including “ major events”)
Looking at the possibilities of including transport tickets options within your match day ticket purchase .
Circa 180 car parking spaces planned -30% accessible ( disabled), allocation of same will not be on a 1st come, 1st served basis - exact mechanics to be decided .
Sport England,EFL, Football Association,RFU,- good relationship will all of these and do not expect any negatives .
Floor Plans- have taken on board comments “ difficult to read etc” will address with higher resolution images and notation.
Hospitality- GOLD & Silver- area and format will be flexible for both match and non match days .
South East Advisory Panel- used by local authorise in SE to give views and opinions on the quality of plans submitted and engagement on same- there views are not binding, but would want them onside.
Accessibility and connectivity - great effort has been made to ensure this is top class .
Crossings from the North across Frieze Way, also across Oxford Road from the station and beyond. Also from canals, road, rail, bus and cycle ways .The substantial new housing developments will make financial contributions to this, especially cycling and the club will integrate into this .
“SPORTS BAR” -will need to be attractive not only on match days, but 365 days a year .
Therefore has to be disigned to provide an enticing food and drink offer, embracing local produce and may include an on site brewery. It will show sport, replays etc, will be open to the plaza with outside seating and tables - an area to meet up before and after a game and in the week.
N McWilliams reiterated that this is a genuine consultation and that all comments and suggestions are welcome- obviously not every request can be accommodated .
Comments encouraged at the exhibition and also online .
Do it now - it will be too late once it’s built

Very good summary, thank you.

I'm glad you mentioned the transport ticket options alongside the match ticket. The guy I spoke to regarding traffic management and public transport said that he was confident that a bus ticket would be included in the cost of your ticket and would enable most fans to travel by bus from within the county to and from games through your match/season ticket. He said that discussions are ongoing with rail companies as there are different operators but was confident that a similar deal would be done with Chiltern Railways.

Mick Brown also said that there has been a real uplift in those looking to use the matchday special bus services from around the county, and that there is currently greater demand than buses available. It is hoped that even before we move, there will be options for hundreds of fans being able to access the Kassam via these buses and this will be expanded for the new stadium. One of the stumbling blocks to this is that some of these services were being subsidised by the club due to the large number of people using these services who are entitled to free travel. A voluntary donation system is now in place which helps cover the costs, and this is maybe something that could continue.

Also, the guy from Fabrik who are behind the landscaping of the site was really passionate about linking the stadium site with the wider community through pathways and cycle ways that would sweep around the land to the east and north through the additional sports pitches to link to Kidlington near the top end of Sainsbury, and to the west and into Stratfield Brake and beyond. This is to not only encourage local fans to walk and cycle to games, but also to make the stadium apart of every day life rather than somewhere that people only go to for games.

I know that road closures and possible bridges will get lots of attention, but there is genuine hope that the vast majority will attend through public transport and sustainable travel, and ever reason to believe that this will be the case.

Back on footbridge/underpass chat. As identified yesterday, the option suggested was to essentially extend the platform / create a walkway under the bridge alongside the track.

I'm not sure what the technical term is, but I can confirm - it would also be a big faff!

Thanks very much. Great to have a summary for those who couldn’t make it.

It’s all encouraging. I’d like to turn a lot of those ‘maybes’ into something more tangible and measurable. It’s still a little vague even if the stadium designs do appear well established.

Or just close the road for a few every few weeks during the football season and save a huge expensive and disruptive civil engineering project involving councils, network rail, highways etc.

Interesting that the sports bar is going to be open all the time, that should make sarge happy that his visits there are not limited to just match days and he can enjoy a pint of strongbow while watching the prem games on the big screens.

Fair questions, and I don't think you should apologise or justify any form of 'negativity' for asking them. It's not moaning about an otherwise great thing, it's wanting to get this stadium as close to perfect as possible. Let's not forget, we won't be doing this again in another 25 or so years; for any Oxford fan alive today this is it, we aren't moving again after this, so let's ask the questions we need to and get it right.
This ☝️

Sorry, one more thing. I was under the impression that road closures were being considered to reduce the traffic going past the stadium into/from Oxford immediately before/after games, rather than restricting movement in and out of the P&R. This would then make it quicker and safer for traffic to exit from the P&R, which would include cars and buses. And this will all be managed to ensure that any closures/restrictions are only in place when necessary rather than for an arbitrary timeframe.

Don’t forget the chicken wings (cauliflower wings if he’s vegan by then) and loaded potato skins.
