Dear County Council Cabinet.
I am writing to ask that you make a positive decision
about leasing Oxford United Football Club the land at
either Stratfield Brake or the Triangle to build a new
stadium.
1 am 13 years old and have supported Oxford United
since my Dad took me to my first game when I was 6
years old and 'Father Christmas' bought me my first
yellows shirt!
As a season ticket holder and a Girls RTC player,
football means everything to me; Oxford Utd means
everything to me! However, it's not just about the
football that plays out on the pitch. Football brings
people together from all over the community - men,
women, young, elderly, rich, poor - it has no
boundaries. Football is so much more than a game, it
has the ability to bring people joy, comfort in the
darkest of days, release from work/school pressures,
sense of belonging, friendship and hope.
As a young female growing up in Oxfordshire, it would
bring opportunities to not only myself but future
generations. At a time where we're just starting to
break down barriers of stereotypes in football, your
decision could impact hugely on the positive future of
OUWFC along with OUFC and community clubs.
Please don't underestimate how much your decision
will impact the footballing and non-footballing
community. A delay in your decision puts the future of
our club at risk!
Let's ensure football remains at the heart of the
community where it belongs……pumping yellow blood
throughout Oxfordshire!

This is fabulous from 13 year old Eve, great that the young and old have come together as one
Have known Eves family for years absolute mad Yellows fans except her Dad who supports the Gills but fair play to him for bringing up his family correctly [emoji3]

Absolutely brilliant.

And I also thought you were a 13 year old girl when I first read the letter, which was somewhat surprising given your posting history!

Its only right that the young have more of a say in this, especially the kids of Kidlington. They're the ones likely to benefit the most from the improved facilities and jobs created by it.

Here's some notes a friend of mine took at the KPC meeting, gives a little more insight.

Chair
Ian wants to keep it in but it will be taken out.
No advantage gained by making a decision for or against at this stage. OCC wont be making a decision until the autumn. KPC make a decision after this. Only as consultees
Point 8. No point in consulting evidence until fully informed. Parish poll against, won’t change anything at this point. Better to wait.

What is the decision that OCC won't be making until autumn. Is it on whether to actually approve the leasing of the Triangle? if so how does he know it will take another 8-9 months to get there?
If so, that will be very tight for submitting planning and keeping to the necessary schedule.

I'm not going to pretend I know anything about the complexities of this type of thing but I took it to mean Tuesday will be looking to enter negotiations and conclude them in the autumn.

If so, all parties must know about this so shouldn't be of any concern.

I’ve even managed to get the trouble and strife to send an email today to various members of the OCC cabinet. She doesn’t like football at all, but knows how much OUFC mean to me and so many other people in the County and far beyond.

With any luck and between us all, we’ve over loaded the OCC email servers in the last few days.

Lets hope we’ve all done enough to get a positive decision without further delay on Tuesday.

I've just sent my email to the OCC Chair and cabinet. I'm not currently resident in Oxfordshire but all of the points made are valid re: the existence of the club, the opportunities for the whole Oxfordshire community and the chance to lead the way with integrated transport.

If anyone is still wondering whether there is value in contacting OCC, don't delay, there's still time, it can make a difference.

Sent mine to all cabinet members. Wife’s to follow and hopefully daughters. Focussed on the club’s great community and education work and opportunities for kids and schools in Kidlington area
