General Jan transfer window

3mill for both plus add ons. A truly hideous deal even if we have a decent sell on.

Who’s doing the negotiating again?
Perhaps the issue is Shandon's fitness and Brentford offering more later and less up front by structuring the deal in that manner. If the player has made it clear that he wants to leave, what can we do?

Nothing on the horizon in regards to incomings.
Lights off, let’s go and get 3 points tomorrow.

Firstly, congratulations to Shandon and Tariqe on what must be vastly improved contracts and the chance to play football at a higher level. Karl has been extremely protective of both of them over the season ,Tariqe should have been rested a couple of months ago, but he persisted on playing him when many supporters though he should have been rested.

For all those on the forum who claim allegiance to Oxford over many years, including myself, we have seen this happen many times before. We will still have a strong squad and everything to play for during the rest of the season.

Normally OxMail give us a snippet of info, ie nothing likely to happen etc. They have been very quiet so I wonder if there are things bubbling away we are yet to be told about.
They said at 6.20 looks like nothing happening at the moment!!

just under 4.5 hrs of the window to go ...... no sight, sound or hint of any incoming additions, bought or loanees - as yet

Why? We may still be in with a shout of promotion if we were.
This isn't football manager. Good decision for the long term stability of the club. Of course you could argue we could hold out and sell in the summer, however no guarantees Shandon would be fit and demanding such a fee.

This is the tiring part of transfers in the modern game. Someone says they paid X for a player, then someone says that it’s actually X + Y, but there’s no way of knowing what Y either is or means. There are all sorts of crazy clauses in deals up and down the pyramid that don’t really mean a thing. Some are quite standard, such as a bit more for this many games, or this many goals, or you get this much for this many international games, this much for promotion etc, but there are some that are just never going to happen. We could have a clause in there that says if Brentford get promoted to the PL, then stay up for three seasons and Shandon plays five games for England in the process, then we get an extra million quid. Great - what’s the likelihood?

End of the day, clauses are all dependant on things going your way. You are essentially agreeing to toss a coin and chance your luck. The bottom line fee is still king, especially at this level. That’s what you have to judge deals on.

Wonder if Robbo has been told there’s no money, maybe as others have alluded to we have a huge debt, tiger trying to recoup some of his out lay. Are the add ons for Fosu and Baptiste going to tiger? If so is he like Eales.
Watching the movement going on at teams around us want to achieve better things is a bit embarrassing after what tiger and what NMW said yesterday about promotion.

Has he made it clear he wants to go? No one know. Even with sell ons a few million up front is poor
