General Jan transfer window

Derby have a centreback lined up on loan from Spurs - Cameron Carter-Vickers. According to the local press round here, it's just waiting final paperwork submission. Nothing about Dickie in the local press since that original Mirror article a few weeks back which either means nothing doing or it's all being done in the background.

If a club offers us £4 million for Rob Dickie then we have to accept it. That is a lot of money for this football club, and you can bring in a few players with that, and have some left over for the summer transfer window.

Imagine we turned down such an offer, and then he gets a career threatening injury. We would be gutted! Football careers are short, and the longevity of the football club is far more important.

But his performances may drop, if we fade away and miss out on the play offs he won't be worth as much as he is now. January is the time when Premier and championship teams get a bit desperate and will ultimately pay more just to get the player through the door. We will see how the board reacts to this, they might have said no one is for sale and going anywhere, but in any buisness everything is for sale at the right price.
It sounds like you want players to be sold. If we sell Dickie and only a maybe we fall off the ground promotion trail and end up mid table and this is because of Dickie going as we start to shop goals in, then why the hell do we bother with aiming for promotion. So that why we have to keep what we’ve got to try and get promotion, and with the extra money coming in as a result of promotion the we don’t necessarily have to sell although if in the championship more transfer fees will be got by OUFC so our recruitment could be better than what it is now and it’s good at the moment.

You’ll have to say that again, Baz. ?

Nope I don't want players sold. But 4 million for Dickie is a good offer and I wouldn't blame the club for cashing in

No way could we reject £4m for Dickie. Brighton paid Bristol City £20m for a centre back in the summer and on that basis £4m is a steal but the reality is there’s a ceiling on a L1 players worth as obviously the lower down the pyramid you go the the bigger the risk that the player in question could cut it in the top flight.

There’s a genuine possibility Dickie could ultimately make it in the PL and command a fee upwards of £10m from a championship club so a £3m or £4m outlay to us now or in the summer would appear very decent business for both parties.

With a 25% sell on as well

Nathan Holland set to join from West Ham then. Pacy young winger who played against us in the cup. Very highly rated.

Connor Coventry is highly rated as well and said to be going out on loan to a league 1 club ?? OXford as well ????

To rival fosu and hall for the left mid place. Hall out on loan? Or fosu sold?
