Championship Derby in trouble

Good thing for Derby, and for football in general.

Not so good for us - I was hoping it would drag out for a couple more weeks so that they wouldn't have a proper team until August 1st! Sounds like they'll probably be a threat by opening day now, assuming that Rooney already has some irons in the fire.......
They might have the numbers required, but will they play as a team?

They report back on Monday. Could have free agents in as triallists then takeover happens midweek allowing signatures to take place. So likely getting a full preseason though obviously the number of new additions will be vast

A few more weeks for the administrators to coin it in..................... again.

Then revert back to Ashley who has lodged £50m as proof of ability to pay.

Confirmation that Mel Morris no longer owns the stadium. Its purchaser - Clowes Developments - will be submitting formal bid for the club today. With the loan to fund the club, alongside formalising the takeover bid, the EFL may soon give the green light to sign players.

Looking forward to the panic on here when Derby sign 15 players before we’ve made our first proper signing of the summer.

This seems to have happened very quickly under the noses of the administrators. The stadium deal was not part of the administration, the only link here was the lease between the club and stadium owner (Morris at that time), the stadium deal would have been done between Morris and Clowes independently. So makes you wonder why the administrators were looking in completely the wrong place for so long and why they had so readily dismissed Clowes as a viable prospect.

It's not over the line yet though, Clowes still needs to offer above what they probably want to for the club to avoid a points deduction next season. But owning the stadium basically means they are not only preferred choice but really the only choice now. If they can't get a deal for the club with the administrators, the club simply has new landlords. But there seems to be no doubt Derby are in a better position than last week now, although it appears to again be not thanks to the administrators but Clowes and Morris doing a property deal and so forcing the administrators hand to dealing with Clowes for the club.

Administrators have been aware of it all the way through, this hasn't come from nowhere.
Clowes were buying the ground even if Kirchner had completed his club takeover. He/they have been in and around discussions for months and just been referred to as a "local consortium" for quite some time.

As someone the Derby forum has said:
"It's not beyond the realms of possibility that he's stepped forward in order to untangle this messy web of Administration/Quantuma/Morris with the intention of just getting things moving in the right direction on & off the field, reuniting the club & stadium, with a view to selling on to Appleby Group / Ashley / Morgan / Other within 12 months, IF they represent a better opportunity for the club to progress."

I just hope he keeps the ground and rinses them for rent................. sound familiar? 🤷‍♀️

Rooney has now resigned following talks with the administrators.

His agent was involved with the Kirchner bid and would have become CEO. Wonder if there's any link there for his decision to go.

Yes does he know this deal will not happen?

Or or he being pushed so the new owners can install their own manager?
I expect not having his agent involved in a takeover has made him think about things a lot. He had gone silent since the collapse of the Kirchner bid.

It’s surprising as I think he was lined up for Everton. Must be kicking himself

Not at all surprised, and by staying as long as he did, it looks better for him, but he would see himself too good to be apart of Lge 1, and I honestly think they will struggle to make the top 10. It’s fair more competitive than some think!

Did Rooney do that whilst on his hols and did the boss Colleen have something to do with it?
