It feels like a a Pep Clotet moment. The right look and saying the right things at the start (although now sounding more like a broken record), but just doesn’t seem to have any idea on how to coach and manager a football club at this level.

I don’t understand it, the due diligence must have shown him to be the right person, so where is the disconnect and why?
Some people interview well, sometimes what appears like a perfect fit ends up as not working.
As always in those situations all parties should cut their losses and move on. Invariably they don't and it often ends up in a very messy end,.
The is only so much DD you can do and most of it was irrelevant anyway. Most often the cultural or personality fit just doesn't work, for a multitude of different reasons.
It's why hiring is such a difficult process at a senior level in small teams. Very few have a magic formula.

We’re going to have to beat Lincoln aren’t we? You can see it already……… one nil up early (solo strike or bit of individual quality from Murphy/Browne/Tyler, followed by 60 minutes of Lincoln pressure, mid to late second half equaliser, scenes for them in the North stand, late miss from Bodin/Harris when easier to score, cue Des ‘we controlled the game, had chances to make it 2 or 3, and were very unlucky’.
This season is one of deep frustration. The league standard is really poor. If we went up I’d doubt we’d get 20 points without wholesale changes.

Do you think you know what you’re on about then?🤣 It was hardly the point of a footballing genius I was making!!
No but you continuously chat rubbish, asking the club to get rid of a manager who isn’t even a year into his deal, who are losing £6m a year. Don’t think that’s very clever do you? A manager who’s not had a summer window to bring in his own players. Was given the players manning had already earmarked for January which wouldn’t of been who he wanted

Absolute rubbish, do you honestly think that Buckingham would have meekly accepted the players that Manning had already earmarked for January.
The players that were brought in would have been a collaboration between Buckingham and Waldron.
If it was the case as you stated, then we have a Head coach with no backbone or authority. Which is quite disturbing.

I don't think he has authority and he was "interviewed " by video. It is very disturbing.

Yes I do, as I know that is the case.

The recruitment was decided by Waldron/Manning to go after the players we did, nothing to do with Buckingham, the real point is, Des deserves the summer to clear out a lot of the s**t that isn’t good enough, lots of contracts running out and lots of the budget to play with.

Well for starters, 2 players who Manning was after during the summer turned up here in the new year….Brurey and Cumming.

What s**t? Some contracts will elapse but the players were good enough to get to second and stay there, most are perfectly good for div three. They just need good management and a couple of judicious additions

No, it'll be mathematically out of our reach by then I'm afraid
No it won’t be. Worst case is we will be 9 points behind 6th going into that game with 3 to play. Do you actually see us losing all 3 games against Fleetwood, Burton and Peterborough? I certainly don’t.

Spot on. This is the weakest L1 I can recall, in all honesty there isn’t a decent side in it. Our squad was comfortably good enough to hang around the top two and, as you say, it just needed some guidance and clarity early on to keep us there or thereabouts, a half decent January and we’d be well placed now. Some of the rubbish we’ve lost to under Des - Cheltenham, Rovers, Northampton etc - we should have comfortably been beating with the players he had at his disposal at the time.

One win, one draw, one defeat. Won’t lose all three, if we do then bye bye Des.

Des won’t be getting sacked before the end of the season.
It would do you and us all a favour if you just accept that.

If we are mathematically out of the play offs with two or three games left it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he was sacked. Why would you prolong something that is inevitable?

We won’t be out of it mathematically with 3 games to go, I can’t even see us being mathematically out of it with 2 games to go.

I think we will get 4 points from our next 2, Lincoln will get 6 from theirs (Carlisle and Reading). Peterborough will beat us, Lincoln will win at home to Wigan and then beat us. Season over with two to go.

Do you think Lincoln will win their next 4 but we won’t beat Fleetwood and Burton?

I actually think Lincoln will drop points tomorrow against Carlisle. Carlisle have just beaten Peterborough away 3-1 and got a point at home to Stevenage. Lincoln weren’t as convincing as they were before the international break against Orient.

My mistake, for some reason I though Lincoln was the final game of the season.

But we ain't making the playoffs regardless, in my opinion.

I’m not sure why you’re assuming we can do what Lincoln can do. They are in the form of their lives and peaking at exactly the right time. Even when they calm down on the goal scoring front they snatch a 90th minute 1-0 - whether it’s luck or not I don’t know but it’s what promotion teams do (see Pompey).

As encouraging as that Carlisle result was I just can’t see them tripping up two play off teams in four days - great if they can but will be a big shock. We should dispense with Fleetwood tomorrow but I think Burton might be a draw.

I don’t necessarily think Lincoln, man for man, are any better than us but that momentum will be key and coupled with our nervousness I think they will do a job on us at home. We certainly need them to stumble somewhere before they play us.
