Manager/Coach Karl Robinson - Will he walk

I expect we will have a vastly better idea of what is going to happen if KR shows up on the forum tonight, which I expect him to as I can’t see him passing up a platform. Anything other than an outright “I’m staying and that’s the last I’m saying on anything to do with that” won’t cut it. Club comes first - tell the owner you want to go and hop it or wind it in and do your job. Two games in a row he’s been waving his A*****e at another club after the team has got three points, and the entire lead up to another big game this weekend has been overshadowed, which he has been happy to see occur due to the way he fuelled this on Tuesday night, rather than saying “I’ll need to speak to the board, I don’t know anything about this, I want to talk about the game just now”. Nobody should accept any answer tonight that isn’t definitive, and if it’s still dragging on then he shouldn’t be going on the radio at all. In or out.

As I said previously, at least we know that if he doesn’t go anywhere then he can’t play his cards this way again. Nothing wrong with clubs being interested whether it’s our players, coaches or anyone else, but we should all expect those approaches to be handled the right way. What nobody should tolerate is someone cracking on to their partner in a bar, and them responding with a hand around the waist or a stroke of the chest and lots of open flirting. That’s pretty much what’s gone on in recent days. If you want to go home with them and end it with us then fill your boots, but don’t walk around all night telling your mates that you need to be given a reason not to do it, and act like that’s in any way fair or reasonable. It’s really poor form and shows a total lack of respect, which I think is particularly rich given he was rewarded for a season of failure last year with a new three year deal.

Even if nothing happens the manner in which this has been conducted from his end will leave a sour taste with many, and he won’t have any choice but to reign it in or make himself look a prat. Can’t keep playing the same games, Karly Baby, and if you decide to stay now and then start moaning again next season, just remember that you very much signed up for it. If things are that awful here and you feel you’ve been stitched up that badly, off you go - your taxi is outside and you’ve already said you quite fancy getting in. If not then don’t cry six months down the line, because you’ll only succeed in proving that for you nothing is more important than being the centre of attention.

Let’s stop degrading Battman, please. Let’s have a laugh with him, not at him. Let’s have a laugh on the forum, with Battman at us.
I will not have Battman's tunnel, banded around this forum, willy, nilly

Several comments in that which wildly contradict things he’s said before. Sounds like he’s been told “You have a contract here and you’re staying put” and he’s now reaching to point out that he never even suggested that isn’t fine with him, despite what he said and how he’s carried on. Love the suggestion that he was put in an unfair position when he was already talking about it on the air days earlier. Clean up on aisle five!

Still, at least we can all move on with a quieter, much more humble KR for a few months, right?

That shows the difference between formal approaches and what actually goes on. The fact that he references people telling him about Blackpool's plans shows that there has been a lot going on behind the scenes. However, the fact that Tiger has knocked the formal approach back so quickly, it backs Robinson into a corner where he needs to stay or walk out on his second club in 2 years. This maybe strengthens Robinson and the teams position in the summer, with more funds available to get the right players in, but it also shows that Tiger won't be played with either.

Interesting times ahead!

Not quite that clear cut is it! Could not be more respectful of Blackpool, not so subtle dig at Tiger.

Put it this way, i think we will at least see a mutual parting of ways in the summer. Robbo wants to be at Blackpool have no doubt.

I think that any sensible manager is respectful about most clubs most of the time, they never know when they will need a job (think the average tenure of an EFL manager is only just over a year now). Also, as a sensible manager he will want to remind the owners every now and again that he wants more - all managers want more. Robbo is in danger perhaps of talking too much, and his words lose their edge (I only listen to about 1 word in 4 of his post match interviews now).

The critical thing is, at zero point has Robbo said "I am not interested in leaving". Its all about contracts, and keeping them sweet. When it gets to that point, its when, not if.

Funds were there to get the right players in back in January they just didn't come apparently.

Whatever's been going on shrewd Businessmen should not have needed it pointing out the opportunity that was in front of them, it's fine saying funds may be made available come the summer but it might just be a case of the horse has already bolted let's hope not.

He’s changed what he said multiple times in the past, which was “there will come a day that he sacks me” to “there will come a day that I walk out”. Perhaps most people don’t remember what somebody said 18 minutes ago let alone 18 months, but I certainly do. And I certainly remember lots of things being said after more than one game recently that counters his own argument of “If I was thinking of leaving then why would I have asked people to get down to the stadium this weekend?!”

He’s flown a little too close to the sun on this one and it’s certainly singed his wings. I think somebody got a bit too big for their boots and the mask slipped in the process. Best behaviour now, Karl. You’re going to need a good few months of humility to redeem yourself after the way you threw yourself at that chap in the bar the other night.

I must admit, until now I haven't been allowing myself to get too worried about all of this, but those comments from Robbo are a bit concerning

I'm not sure anyone could ever say they have no interest in leaving. His stock is pretty high right now, and he has a fairly narrow window to maximise this position. That could mean moving elsewhere, or it could mean more investment here. But it's a tricky position to be in too. If he demands a promotion winning budget (assuming we don't go up this season) then anything less could see him sacked.

Plus it's obvious that whilst the board may have some soundings on what is involved to be in the c/ship certainly from Tiger's Reading days they can't commit to a lot until they know which Div we are in apart from already identifying Xtra players and we do aim high generally apart from the Eastleigh purchase and do expect many players cutting it in higher division. The tricky issue is replacing loans or sold players to same level.

Christ every time he opens his mouth it throws in more doubt in my opinion...

"I've always said there will be a day I walk out....cos that's what managers do"??

and

"But one thing I would say is we need to know where we’re going to be next year, what we’re going to try to achieve and the steps in that direction are going to look like."

Didn't sound like that phone call clarified much for him!

And if funds were available, why did Zaki mention boosting cashflow as a reason for the Fosbap deal?
2+2=......erm...anyone?
