You’ve no idea what I do or don’t know. Don’t be so presumptuous.

What we all know is that we’ve not assembled the squad we would all like. We also know that time, though not out, is short. As of today, we also know that the manager believes us to be behind other clubs in two out of three of our main targets.

Could it all work out? Yes, of course and I very much hope it does.

Unlike many on this forum, I am prepared to believe that it will not and I worry about the consequences. Truly, I wish I was as good a supporter as you. My life would have fewer dark clouds and more rainbow-unicorns in it. Count your blessings.

In fairness, the rainbow unicorns are too high maintenance but otherwise it is wonderful on this side of the fence!

I'm clearly one of the few that are more positive than most, but generally there is a fairly large middle ground where most people worry that we are going to go into the beginning of the season like we went into the last one, and we all know how that turned out.

Reasons why I'm confident.

We picked up Fosu and Gorrin against interest from other teams.
We are genuinely looking at some players of a standard higher than we've seen in decades. We are able to compete with all clubs in this league, and whilst that has no guarantees, I'd rather be in that position than picking up scraps.
The training ground and new pitch genuinely make a difference. Players have been massively impressed with our set up.

Reasons to worry.

We have 16 days to go until we play Sunderland.
Despite everything we're doing right, we still need to get the players to sign on the dotted.
Just being in here makes me anxious!!

Keep the faith, I really believe that things will happen soon.

So we have got a good pitch, I wonder what’s changed in KR thought process after he said the players hated playing at the kassam, praise for firoka as well.

I’m not sure how you can state we can complete with every club in this league, over the years we have lost out with players moving on to clubs who pay double our wage cap, I’m not convinced unless they raise that wage cap that we can compete wages wise with the bigger clubs.

I am generally much more on the positive side ( maybe not as positive as you!)
I know that people are saying that we need 2 CBs. 2 CFs, a left back a right back wingers etc.
In reality we are desparate for a striker and a quality CB pretty quickly (then get the other players in)
I have remained positive that we would get these but then Nile Ranger is mentioned from a normally reliable source. This does seriously worry me as it does suggest panic by the club ( plus he has proven to be the opposite to Dan Harris's mantra of developing high quality young men). I have probably never wanted a player to not come to oufc more than Ranger.

Regarding Ranger, could he not just be training with us again? If no one else wants him, we could be paying him a small fee just to help our young forwards learn from his experience.

I know he has a horrendous past, but kids like Napa really took to him in his previous spell.

Really? How do you know that? How long did he train with us for?

I would hope we are not paying someone just to train with us, that would be strange.

We have invested in both the pitch and the training ground. These are now at a standard higher than most in our league. When players come to the club they take notice of these things and we are head and shoulders above where we were only a year ago. This helps when we're recruiting.

We are currently able to compete with most teams. Cadden favours us over Sunderland for example. Fosu had interest from other clubs, as did Gorrin. We were able to offer a better deal both financially and with the structure through the club.

Sunderland spent silly money last season and blew other sides out of the water. This season the gap has closed and we are amongst the best of the rest.

Ranger would be a good signing, we would get a talented player (albeit with a horrendous reputation) for a low wage.

His talent has never been in doubt, if Robbo can keep him on the straight and narrow he will be a good addition.

And if he repeats his past behaviour he can be fired out the door

You are either Tiger or Mrs Tiger, ive never been so sure of anything!

So much money sloshing around and yet our key striker signing is likely to be Nile Ranger. Yeah right.

If Cadden, whoever he is, favours us why hasn’t he signed?

Not answered my question on KR and his turnaround about the kassam.

Best of the rest, we have been blown out of the water by the like of bury and fleetwood in previous seasons, the wage cap they are trying to keep to is the same as last year, austerity!
You can’t quote Cadden as an example as he’s not been announced (if he ever will be) and we will have to see the deal to judge his worth to us.

It's perfectly acceptable to wait for the full details before commenting, but it does make 99% of this thread slightly irrelevant!

I don't think KR loves the Kassam. However a lot of work has been done this summer to make the pitch as good as it possibly can be. In addition to the training ground we have facilities that are of a championship standard. This matters to players and I know for a fact that Ched Evans was very impressed with our set up. That doesn't mean that he will definitely sign but it all helps to convince players that they'll be looked after whilst here.
