Shocking. Negru at fault for the goal, mitigation, like so many others today he couldn't find a pass or a receiver. Watched in amazement as Brannagan from a free kick just flapped his arms looking for anybody to kick to and, he wasn't alone. Far too many wayward passes, aimless headers, aimless clearances.
Eastwood is, quite simply, not a league 1 keeper. His attempts to play out from the back were just a mess. He would then revert to hoofing it long to nobody or into touch.
And, I have to say, despite having been a strong advocate for Buckingham, the jury is out. His post match interviews are becoming a worry. The lack of tactical change during a game is becoming too noticeable. Where is the assistance that he needs? Where is the data for plays? Where are the set pieces? Why do we, after all these years, still take throw-ins in such aimless manner?

We (Mrs L & self) arrived at the game today buoyed by the prospect of new players to boost the team only to see more injuries, an under 18 keeper on the bench. Our optimism and enthusiasm waned to be briefly lifted by our goal and then to watch in mounting anticipation of an equaliser if not worse to witness losing.

We do not enjoy this at all.

Look on the bright side, you obviously didn’t get arrested, bitten by a rabid police dog or stampeded by a rampant horse πŸ™‚.

Interesting, I think he has been a you describe a lot this season but thought he was better today. Him, Brannagan and Harris were the only ones I thought that put 100 percent work rate today.
Just feel he needs to go back to basics. He’s not up for the fight, tends to go quiet which when you have Harris up top on his own it shows, especially if he’s supposed to press with him etc

I to turned up with a sense of renewed, albeit short-lived, optimism, however despite a forward line that never fires on all cylinders all at once (and didn't really fire on any today) I did actual enjoy the game. Lacking in skill but hard fought with a hot/cold ref who allowed the game to flow but always at the wrong time!😳
Oh the ref! He was as bad as the last time he officiated one of our games.

Why do we think we can hang on for 45 minutes trying to defend a slender one goal lead against a rank one dimensional team like Reading? The team should all day long and kicking towards the east stand second half be putting in a much better performance than that. That 2nd half performance stank.

The game itself had three or four decent performances in Elliot Moore, Greg Leigh, Cameron Brannagan and I thought Tyler Burey. I thought Tyler's 'George Lawrence' type of performance was the key to us probably getting all three points and then what happened he was taken off to 'save' him for some other day! Ffs, leaving him on for another 10/15 minutes or so would it of really f*cked him up? Surely, he would have a week to recover for those extra 10/15 minutes?

Nevertheless, it was 19 games to go....now its 16 and apparently everyone is back next week so will he start with two wingers in Burey and Josh Murphy....will he f*ck.

The season I'm afraid is slipping away and unfortunately, most of us can see it....but can Des do anything about it?

By the way I'll be at Blackpool next week all being well and hopefully I'll witness a side packed with all these 'new' now fit players lol.

We had a chance today to have smashed the tossers but sadly another 10k crowd witnessed a totally inept second 45.

Growing a little tired now but COYY'S.

It's just interesting how we both saw things differently. I thought he was one of the only players who was up for the fight. I did think he tired at the end and should have been replaced by Henry.

After Tuesday, I really expected to see Henry come on for 25 πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ.

We don’t just seem to go missing in games after a reasonable start, we just disintegrate. Can’t get by sodding head around it.

A frustrating afternoon.

2 points out of the last12 is going to be a difficult run to turn around.

Fear for us a Blackpool last week, but stranger things have happened.
Says it all when we’re hoping a guy who’s legs basically went 3 seasons ago, to come on in a derby match where Reading were on top/up for it as a saviour!!

And that’s in a team that wants promotion!!

Spot on

I thought Rodrigues was awful, too slow and trying to be clever when a simple ball is on.
Not only that, every time he collected the ball, he turned backwards even when there was acres of space in front or a through ball on. Also thought his general ball control was woeful today and he had energy going forward.

Very dispiriting performance from manager and players alike.

Three points:

1. We lost second balls at about a ratio of 9:1. The lack of anticipation from our players was astonishing.

2. We play almost zero one-touch football. The players too often take too many touches and in doing so slow everything down.

3. Many of the players find it seemingly impossible to play a pass in front of a teammate. Their safety first approach ensure their passes are far too often played at or behind their target.

Slow. Slow. Slow.
Exactly as I read the game. We were slow and pedestrian.

I can't believe how many second balls we lost, they were so much more tenacious than us. Got a few yellows but so much more determination than us.

How many games can you win with safety-first football like today?

I'm not buying this injuries stuff anymore. Reading were nowhere near where they'd want to be either. No one seems to have a clue what Des is trying to do.

What the hell is a "Des Buckingham team", aside from a losing one? Pressed them hard for 20 minutes.

Surprised to see praise for Eastwood, who's distribution was sub par, and Rodrigues who epitomises ponderous oxford under Des.

The pressure will build until Williams gives us a ChatGPT statement about the shiny new stadium and how we're "moving in the right direction"

We were a million miles off the pace today. Reading sang about 3 times, you'd think it was going to be world war 3 judging by the absolutely ludicrous police presence.

I always hear the police are underfunded, not a problem when it comes to football though?

This season is going to fizzle out into mid table dishwater. We've had moments under Des but have we turned out a SINGLE good 90 minutes? No faith in the man at all.

Whether our fans want to accept it or not, his interview are revealing. He cuts a disjointed and overworked figure who's out of his depth.

Always next season...

He looked good on Tuesday. He even said he now feels 100 percent where as before he wasn't. He came back from a long injury. One swallow and all of that but at the same time, it may be that the old dog has a bit of life in him!

Yes, we did brilliantly to get a draw at home against the mighty Reading after being 1-0 up at half time… πŸ€”
With 10 first team players out injured and players like Negru playing in a different position.

Reading have some good players still and towards the end looked like they might win.

O donker did well against pompey as we were playing balls through the channels for him to run on to. Today it was just aimless high balls in which the cb dominated him
Well said and the problem was he wasn’t always jumping to try and win headers.
