I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a planned intention to come out and try and defend our lead in the second half. Desโ€™ half hearted hand waves seem to be an attempt to get the midfield to push up. I just think we continually come out of the changing rooms at half time very sluggish nearly every game. Iโ€™m not really sure what is said to them..

Just no urgency at getting going second half ,we should have been at them got a second game over. But we just didn't get a rhythm going .And here we are waiting for results to go our way again ,we are heading out of the top 6 with out a doubt ,and sadly at a whimper there was more passion from Reading that comes from the manager, not someone who can't even get the players name right.

Shocking. Negru at fault for the goal, mitigation, like so many others today he couldn't find a pass or a receiver. Watched in amazement as Brannagan from a free kick just flapped his arms looking for anybody to kick to and, he wasn't alone. Far too many wayward passes, aimless headers, aimless clearances.
Eastwood is, quite simply, not a league 1 keeper. His attempts to play out from the back were just a mess. He would then revert to hoofing it long to nobody or into touch.
And, I have to say, despite having been a strong advocate for Buckingham, the jury is out. His post match interviews are becoming a worry. The lack of tactical change during a game is becoming too noticeable. Where is the assistance that he needs? Where is the data for plays? Where are the set pieces? Why do we, after all these years, still take throw-ins in such aimless manner?

We (Mrs L & self) arrived at the game today buoyed by the prospect of new players to boost the team only to see more injuries, an under 18 keeper on the bench. Our optimism and enthusiasm waned to be briefly lifted by our goal and then to watch in mounting anticipation of an equaliser if not worse to witness losing.

We do not enjoy this at all.

2 clean sheets in 14 under Buckingham

Letโ€™s be honest, that was utterly sh1te. Buckingham rabbiting on about 10 players being outโ€ฆwhat on earth have Reading got missing compared to what theyโ€™d like, under normal circumstances? Goodness me.

Rodrigues had a very poor game. Itโ€™s about time he learned to release the ball, rather than look for a foul every time. McGuane looks like he is playing within himself with one eye on the summer.

Brown had a poor game in possession.

Matete isnโ€™t fit, clearly. In a second half where we were creating little and they were controlling the game, we didnโ€™t bring Matete on until the 89th minute. He looks like yet another gamble.

Atmosphere was the flattest derby I can remember at the Kassam.

As for Buckingham, Iโ€™m yet to see in game management that suggests that heโ€™s good enough.

After Tuesday, I really expected to see Henry come on for 25 ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

We donโ€™t just seem to go missing in games after a reasonable start, we just disintegrate. Canโ€™t get by sodding head around it.

A frustrating afternoon.

2 points out of the last12 is going to be a difficult run to turn around.

Fear for us a Blackpool last week, but stranger things have happened.

I to turned up with a sense of renewed, albeit short-lived, optimism, however despite a forward line that never fires on all cylinders all at once (and didn't really fire on any today) I did actual enjoy the game. Lacking in skill but hard fought with a hot/cold ref who allowed the game to flow but always at the wrong time!๐Ÿ˜ณ

Very dispiriting performance from manager and players alike.

Three points:

1. We lost second balls at about a ratio of 9:1. The lack of anticipation from our players was astonishing.

2. We play almost zero one-touch football. The players too often take too many touches and in doing so slow everything down.

3. Many of the players find it seemingly impossible to play a pass in front of a teammate. Their safety first approach ensure their passes are far too often played at or behind their target.

Slow. Slow. Slow.

Negru made the first goal but unfortunately made a mistake for theirs.

1-1, I think Henry should have come on. He had the bit between his teeth on Tuesday. Seems we will only go for it, if we are behind.

Harris and Rodrigues were pretty decent as was Leigh. Nobody else stood out. ๐Ÿ’ฏ effort by Brannigan as usual but lacked a bit of quality. Dale looks like he will be decent enough.

Not just saying this but while our atmosphere has been poor of late, Reading fans were super quiet today.

Yeah, but you can see they visibly slow the game down e.g. at throw ins, goal kicks, free kicks and especially when weโ€™re leading. Then we have to try and go again, but weโ€™re on the back foot, so clearly a tactic which backfires!

Have to say love him or hate him Sam Smith showed exactly what a good lone striker is capable of.
Reading hit the ball long a lot and he managed to get a flick on or hold the ball up and play other players in. Moore gave him a tough time as well.
Harris is not that sort of striker and why we persist in knocking long balls to him is a mystery. Not his fault but I am really hopeful that maybe he can work with Goodwin and benefit.
Under Manning we pressed from the front all game, now we appear to start the game doing this but slowly drop back and Harris is the only player who does anything resembling a press, Consequently we drop deeper and the opposition back four have time to play through us.
Better teams than Reading will exploit this

I thought Rodrigues was awful, too slow and trying to be clever when a simple ball is on.
