New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

It was from what I know, I emailed OxVox about this halfway through last year and was told it was in progress.
Let us hope so. It may not guarantee anything, on the other hand, it may serve as an instrument to delay Kassam from selling the land (as he no doubt will eventually)

I've had a look at the registry for Community Assets and, sadly, cannot find a current entry. It would appear that the registration was not renewed.
If @OxVox can say otherwise, then good. If not, it is an opportunity missed. (Aside from anything else, it really, really pissed off Kassam!)

If it hasn't been renewed then that is very very short sighted by OxVox as that could be pivotal if the time frame is pushed back (which is looking likely) with the new stadium being ready.

That would be up to the club, surely? OxVox are just a group of supporters.

It's reassuring but also concerning that nobody on here seems to have any idea of exactly what's going on.
It's a stark contrast to the recently created "Convoysforum💥🦡" where they seem to know more than the Club, the fans, OCC, CDC and the Planning inspector.

.Could we then say that we've got a deal with MK Dons, Wycombe, Coventry or anywhere mentioned to play there? Would FoSB say that why are we building a huge stadium in Kidlington when there's an even bigger stadium sitting empty 50% of the time in MK?

Of course they'll say that, anything to stop the stadium.

I distinctly remember John Hill saying "Coventry have had success whilst groundsharing so why can't Oxford do the same?

This is the mentality we are up against. ANYTHING to stop the stadium.

Even if renewed and the stadium was put up for sale, how on earth would OxVox/ANother find the money to counter bid .

That's not the point though, is it. There is a factor built into the ACV that dictates a six month referral. It is a delay in the stadium being sold. It also means that we are aware of a potential sale. It becomes a bargaining chip.

I wouldn't worry after several attempts to buy the stadium from 4/5 different owners plus another when oxvox and city council tried to purchase it, kassam has zero interest in selling it to anyone. His intention has always been to build on it at some point if it wasn't he would of built the 4th stand by now and also the lease in the first place would of been much longer. Basically Oufc built the stadium in the first place with the sale of the manor and then we bought it again with the rent we have been paying for the past 20 odd years

However, it's only worth anything to him if the council sanction the change of use from sport to housing - is that right?

Don't quote me and I did try to find it earlier but couldn't find it I believe that also ends after 25 years again a cock up by Oxford city council and one I hope is much much longer in the occ condition of lease

Not sure that is relevant. If OUFC are not using the stadium, Kassam can sell the land as that, land. Whatever is on the land can be demolished without concern.
There was a covenant on the Manor which prohibited it being used for anything other than sport. He overcame that by bunging a few quid at the Bowls club and then sold the land.

However I suspect the council is a lot more supportive of OUFC now, especially if they are having trouble securing a place to play.

Oxford City Council desperately want housing land.

If Minchery Farm become available, they will want it for housing - and will probably be supportive of the plans to move to The Triangle in order to facilitate that
One of the reasons why I am confident we will have planning passed.
By OUFC moving to a piece of unused land that isn’t suitable for housing and in doing so leaves a bit of land that is perfect for housing right next to an already established place like BB Leys, will help their housing quota no end.

What has the City Council got to do with it, though? Sure, they might be vocally supportive, but they have no role in the planning process.
