Ex-Staff Liam Manning

Looking at Twitter Pompey fans are loving thus. They're genuinely worried about us and feel this tips things in their favour. Let's hope we can get the new man in quickly to maintain momentum and keep the pressure on them.

They say the internet never forgets but I can’t find evidence of his Asos bow tie t-shirt. The only photos of it are covered by a OUFC scarf 😔.
You can just make out the top of the bow tie on this one:

The photo I took and used on the website had the bow tie in full, glorious view, but it looks like the story wasn’t carried over when the EFL digital lot changed toolkits a few years later. A damn shame.

This is the best claim to fame I’ve ever seen.

I doubt he "dictated" anything, it's a negotiation. Would you want a manager in charge so weak willed that they caved to all our demands? He's on a rolling contract according to Jerome which means both parties can break it and that was obviously agreeable to all.

The whole 'people should be happy with what they're given" argument is pretty ridiculous. If you offer shitty terms you get shitty managers because the better ones will go where they can get a better deal. There's nothing shrewd about pricing yourself out of the best when you can afford them.

Perhaps there could have been more protection in the contract, we don't know, but a year's salary seems like it would be fairly standard, others will know more than me. Also if we included a break clause at our end if we had got relegated then it's realistic he'll want something on his end and it's naïve to suggest we should just tell them to swivel if they don't agree. Personally I think a break clause, if true and allowed Manning wiggle room, was too cautious as any competent manager should have kept us up last season.
Rolling contract or not if our aim is to be a top 30 club then we should be looking for someone who is progressive has his aims for the club not a Tariq Fisu moment and leave as soon as you look like you are doing well. What if and it is an if the made manager turns out like Robinson in his last season with us do we go back to giving the board stick and labelling them Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum because if the owners what success like I think we all do we don’t want to be that feeder club until we’ve achieved journal which is Championship football and a new ground.

I'd be worried too if I was them, they will be gutted when Mous comes home.

Bring back the days of not announcing players until the team is read out.

Gavin Gordon debuting away at York springs to mind.
I also remember the loan signing of Daniel Boateng being announced whilst most people were travelling to Leeds away in the cup. He came on for the last 5 minutes and no-one knew who he was.

I may be misremembering but I seem to recall finding out about the signing of O'Neill Donaldson in the concourse, Forest away, January 1998. He started that day.
