All a bit depressing for Cheltenham who are heading towards finishing on 5 points* without scoring a goal**

*3 of which will inevitably come from us
**no, I don't know how this would work re the above either.***

***edit: Maybe we'll invite Eddie Hutchinson back for a game and not register him

Darrell Clarke is set to be announced as Cheltenham's new manager according to this:

Well you don't get to manage Bristol Rovers, Walsall and Port Vale without being bang-average, that's for sure.

Tbf, Port Vale fans' comments I've seen attribute a lot of their improvement to him.

Not sure if best thread for this but seems the most up to date.
Another of those six page full of adverts to scroll through.
Current predictions have us as finishing second this season.

I doubt Cambridge will finish 17th unless they have a really bad series of long term injuries to most of their key players.

To be fair, Cambridge started out like a house on fire last season as well with four wins in their first seven games........and then only won four more games in the next seven months before a good April saved them.

Maybe the bookies are factoring that in.......

Think they've got a better squad this season, I'd be surprised if they are near the top at the end but I think they are better than 17th.

Really?
They lost their best 3 players in the pre season.
They were good against us, but I wouldn't be amazed if they struggled

Yes because the players appear to suit the manager's style of football better imo.

Oh maybe, I don't necessarily disagree- at the moment
But in my view last years squad was better.
They have 4 points in the past 5 games so maybe they are over their their very good start ?

I don't want to count our chickens but block 2 should return the same as block 1, what a 1st 10 games that would be!

One of the points Steve Evans made was our huge budget .

Any idea where we are this season in terms of top 2 / top seven / mid table ?

Obviously this year we don’t have Sheffield Wednesday , Ipswich or Plymouth who probably were top 7.

So I’d guess Bolton , Derby , Portsmouth , Charlton, Blackpool are the bigger clubs in the league by support . Wigan and Reading ?

Looking at last season ( where there were 3 exceptional teams), after 10 games:

Ipswich were on 24 points
Plymouth 22 points
Pompey 21 points
Sheff W 17 points

So if we win Tuesday we would be on 24 points.

After 20 games

Plymouth were on 43 points
Ipswich 42 points
Sheff W 41 points
Pompey 32 points ( really fell away)

2nd

I'd be more than happy if each block mirrors the first. The second block has done this so far, with Port Vale being the first block's Cambridge.

We just need 4 wins on the bounce now! :sneaky:
Nice work lads! But now I think we can win any game if we continue to play as we have been.

The problem is we’re now going to lose against Rovers before winning the next four, if the sequence continues!

My problem now is persuading my wife that my boy and I need to fly back regularly for games otherwise Oxford might start losing. I had worried we might curse the team, but it’s now 6 goals in 2 games, all scored by defenders/backs.

A good start to 3rd block but some tough games in this one with Blackpool, Wigan, Wycombe and Lincoln to play. I think I’d take 8 points from the next 4.

Feels like 6 or 9 is more likely this season!
