New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

First time I’ve had a chance to post on here since Cabinet.

Absolutely over the moon - it was fantastic to hear our elected representatives, from across the political divides, talking about the importance of the club, the new stadium and how this development will benefit the people of Oxfordshire and beyond.

But we can’t stop now, we need to keep on the front foot.

And I think many of us have a particular job to do over the next week - thanking those opposition fans who were so generous with their time to support us earlier this summer. We owe them that and particularly as we will be wanting their support again in the coming months.

I’m talking about the Away Fans that so many of you brilliantly approached to ask that they help put forward the case for a more sustainable stadium which would increase their spending and enjoyment of Oxfordshire.

Could the following amazing posters therefore please consider following up on your previous posts on other clubs’ Forums to say something like the following:

“Just getting back in touch to say that Oxford United were successful in gaining approval for land to be leased to the club for a new stadium before we become homeless in 2026. There will be further big battles to come once planning is submitted in the coming months - and I may be back to ask for some further support for the stadium plans at that point - but I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to support our club. The football community is a genuine community and your support for our club at its time of need is massively appreciated. Thank you once again and best of luck for the rest of this season.”

I’m all for starting a new group @SwissYellow

Think it’s a great idea.

Take a case in point.Middleton and FoSB manipulated KPC into rejecting the original site and then demanded a poll costing £7000

OUFC and Ox Vox couldn’t comment on this but if we had another pro sports group we could have spoken up for

Gosford All Blacks
Kidlington Boys Football Club
Kidlington Cricket Club

We could have pointed out that they would have had a sports area to be envied in Oxford because all the other decent sports areas are at Abingdon,Didcot and Bicester there is nothing really in Oxford other than University sports complexes.

We could have campaigned hard and got those clubs and the good people of Kidlington to sign a petition and we would have been in the Mail and on Radox putting over our points for the benefits of not just OUFC but all those youngsters who have now been deprived of something special.

Middleton and his cronies have a lot to answer for.😡
the Kidlington running club are missing from the local sport club list

agree 100 % with everything else

If the supporters group gets going, maybe they may make a point of requesting the local KPC firework display is moved from Stratfield Brake due to the damage it does to the local environment and welfare of animals...Green Party in Kidlington and FOSB very quiet about this for some reason given they want to protect the Green belt and every creature within 2 miles of it.
green party councillors on KPC , three of them have not opposed the firework display, neither have prominent FoSB leaders and green party members, the co spokesperson for FoSB stood as a green candidate for croperdy in the district elections, and her partner was Chester V seconder in his bid to be re elected in the local district elections. Neither of who have opposed the KPC firework display on SB sports ground ( next to the SB nature reserve)

Green Party NATIONAL policy is against any form of action that causes suffering to animals

The so called Kidlington greens are hypocrites

Chester V and co have been pretty quiet on next door

Victoria Campbell certainly has. We had her spiel on Rad Ox but she’s not been seen on Nextdoor since our glorious victory.

Middleton has been knocking about, selectively responding. A lot of posts are being reported and disappearing quickly. By way of experiment I reported a post and it was well over a day before I had a report on it. The FOSB agent who moderates it is helping them to keep our unsavoury views off there.

why? genuine question
most of the millionaire core members running FoSB are NOT Kidlington residents- The Stadium is for the benefit of The COUNTY residents (and beyond) ... let's not forget FoSB postal address is in Poole, Dorset
Because we haven’t yet got a clear idea of how many of the residents in the immediate vicinity of the Triangle are positively in favour and if we could mobilise those that are when it comes to the planning application it’s there positivity that will count. From the poll that was conducted the vast majority didn’t vote. But that doesn’t indicate what the silent majority really think.
Whilst I agree that this is a stadium for the whole county and beyond, when it comes to influencing the planning outcome it will be CDC residents who will have the most clout.

I disagree. A long lease containing the right restrictions is a better deal for the club. I’d much prefer OCC to continue to have “skin in the game” going forward if down the road we end up with owners whose interest are more self serving than caring about the future of OUFC.

🎵 my old man, said be a FOSB FAN
I said F**k Off!! B****ks your a C**t !!!!🎵

🎵If your standing on the corner, with a green scarf round your neck 🎵🤣

My post that was "hidden" due to "Public Shaming" gave me the option of editing it, so I did. I called Middleton's post patronising, which is what I presume was the problem word, as there was absolutely nothing else that anyone could take offence to. I removed the word patronising and re-posted it. Guess what? Post removed!

That platform is not an adequate debating platform as long as it is moderated by the agents of FOSB. Middleton in particular, just does not answer anything challenging him, and if he does end up losing an argument, the other person's posts get mysteriously deleted. There's even a guy on there, who is a Green Party member, who has several times politely asked Middleton questions about his stance being at odds with Green Party policy, and Middleton has consistently ignored him, so the guy has now complained directly to the National Green Party.

These people are not a group, or a party, they're a cult*.

* I had to be very careful that I spelt that correctly!!!

Just playing devil's advocate here, we've seen instances where clubs and councils have fallen out resulting in clubs being locked out of their stadiums. As we know, there are councillors who hold nothing but contempt for OUFC and its fans and will take great pleasure in agitating and disrupting the club and will actively seek opportunities to do that.

Owning the land outright would stop that.

A council can’t just unilaterally lock a club out without cause. If they did they would be in material breach of the leasehold agreement. In any case, it is very unlikely that an elected member would be involved in that decision. The council’s officers administrate the day-to-day affairs, meaning it is they that would handle any issues arising from the leasehold.

If the club breached, they’d only have themselves to blame.

I believe that a long-term leasehold agreement is best for the club and its supporters. The protections it affords against any future owners with nefarious intent are vital.

When it comes to voting at CDC I believe that the Conservative Party run the Council but don’t have an overall majority.
On the Planning Committee I assume that is also the case.
Given that the Labour Party have come out in favour and the Lib Dem’s who held the balance of power at OCC Cabinet have come out in favour I think we should be targeting those Conservative Councillors from the off..I assume any Labour councillors will be on board anyway.
It would appear that only one green councillor on the OCC Cabinet has been against this so far and he was reluctant to say no.
No sure what if any influence these Councillors on the planning committee have but it would be fantastic to have a concerted effort from everyone to get e mails in,especially if you live in the CDC area.

Here's the political make up of the CDC Planning Committee:

I think this is too rich for itvto be decided at district level and will be called in by central government (if CDC don't refer it to them first).
Is that right?
What is the criteria that makes central government to call it in?
Are you suggesting that CDC make a decision in planning after which the government will rubber stamp.. or not?

There is no way, especially with the laws and legislation coming into place in the next few years regarding a government-appointed football regulator, that this is going to happen. Away from the political suicide aspect of a council putting a bullet in its local football club’s head. Absolutely isn’t going to happen.

But what it does do is protect the club against any future change of plans or circumstances of its owners, be it through choice or necessity.
