New Stadium Plans - The Triangle - Planning

Maybe they are thinking long term, they might have to put up with the football ground for the 250 years of the lease but that will give them a lot of time to come up with a way of stopping it being renewed. It also involves them being cryogenically frozen and a cure for death coming along in that time span, with their offspring working away while they are on ice, but for an evil organisation like FOSB that's pretty par for the course.

So, when you look at it realistically like that, a real win for them.

Listened back to the RO Middleton & McIver rants following the council meeting: oh my god what an absolute pair of odious, self-righteous, arrogant, deceitful, gob-sh1tes. Keep going I reckon and all the hard work will be done for us.
What time was it on yesterday?

So, I went back onto Nextdoor last night to counter a long rambling essay from Middleton, where he claimed there was a long way to go and that he would hold the council and club to task on making sure the conditions are met. I replied saying thanks for the patronising essay, but he's being presumptuous if he thinks he'll still be a councillor for long enough to do so.

Guess what? Overnight my post has been "hidden" due to being allegedly disrespectful! I have a chance to edit it, and it will be reviewed, so I've removed the word patronising. Let's see what happens. Unfortunately this was before I got a chance to screenshot it. Below is Middleton's reply to it, where he's very close to doxxing in my opinion, and my reply to him, which has also now seemingly been deleted. That place, and those people, really are only one step away from North Korea. My location on Nextdoor is West Kidlington, so draw your own conclusions on his comments about where I live.

I agree that that this is going to take a long time and it's unlikely to be anywhere near settled by the next set of county elections in 2025. But as you you don't live in Oxfordshire that's not really something that you will have any part in will you?

Colin B
Nice try. I own a second property in Oxfordshire, within the mythical 2 mile radius of The Triangle actually. From January it will be my main residence, and electoral address, so I will very much have a say in the next county elections, and will take great delight in doing so. But that's not what I meant with my comment. I was more thinking of the possible consequences for you of the continued un-earthing of historic Tweets...........

Did, Brentford, Wimbledon, Arsenal, Tottenham have lots of hoops to jump through like us.?
How long did it take to get their stadia started, from agreement to the first spade in the dirt?

Yep - LOADS of objections to ALL of those...and the London Olympic/West Ham Stadium.

And virtually every stadium built anywhere, ever!

It is right that a due process is followed, all voices heard and all transactions and decisions are as transparent as possible without breaking commercial confidentiality etc.

End of the day, they all got built, because the overwhelming desire was there for it to happen. Just like we have here :)

How long did it take?

Brentford is probably a good model to look at. Broke ground 25th March 2017, opened 1st September 2020 (Covid lockdown will have delayed). It cost £71million

Both Olympic and Emirates builds had some significant contaminated land issues to overcome (amongst other things) prior to construction iirc.

And it's worth noting Brentford built a larger stadium on a smaller triangular plot.

Minnesota United's 18000 capacity stadium was built in 20 months so the technology and construction techniques are there.

I was chatting to an esteemed member of the press last night and the penny dropped

One of McIvor's tactics is to form Community Action Groups or Organisations to gain validity in the press. An individual ranting is often ignored BUT the press love and do have a predilection to giving air time to groups.

So, if we wanted to gain more momentum vs FOSB, we create an action group to counter them.

Call it Oxfordshire For the Stadium (OFS) or even a return from the past for F.O.U.L (Fighting for Oxford United's Life) If a group was set up and had lets say one thousand members, its reach and noise would be so loud, every news report would need to include a representative to counter BIAS and provide due Impartiality.

The group would need an objective "To counter the negative anti-progress behaviour of the FOSB and ensure Oxfordshire has a sound foundation for its young people"

It would need social media accounts, a website - a PR writer, a Committee of 5-6 persons including A chair, Treasurer, bank account and Secretary.

The group could act in exactly the same way as FOSB but it if it could display a membership of over 1000 persons, becomes one of biggest lobbyist groups in the County and South East.

It seems like now, might be the time to take another step to protect and defend the Football Club and its fanbase.

Indeed.

The only thing to bear in mind is this excerpt from the Wiki page on their new stadium:

"The club's plan to move to a new community stadium took a massive step forward when, on 28 June 2012, the club bought the 7.6-acre (31,000 m2) site in Lionel Road, Brentford, from Barratt Homes who had originally acquired the site in January 2008. The club aimed to build a 20,000-capacity stadium on the land in time for the 2016–17 season, with the option of extending to 25,000 seats. In December 2013 the club was given approval for the new stadium by Hounslow Council with further approval sought and received from the Mayor of London and the government in December 2013.[8]

Attention then shifted to acquiring the remaining land, required for the enabling development of flats, and completing the development agreement. A Compulsory Purchase Order was approved for the remaining land in the summer of 2014[9] and although negotiations continued, a number of objections to the CPO resulted in a further hearing in September 2015.[10] The development agreement was signed with Willmott Dixon in December 2014.[11] The CPO was approved in April 2016 and the process completed on 1 September 2016.[12]"

Obviously the second paragraph is not particularly relevant to us as we are not looking to ancillary development to unlock the whole stadium project (as far as I know), but it just illustrates how long the process can be from a yes from Local Authority, through approval, to finally realising the build.

They won't give up , until a ball is kicked at the new stadium. Then they'll probably still try to put a spanner in the works.
That's why their accusations & scaremongering must be countered..
I was just about to post about this. Spinning it as a win for them deluded.

They are going to think outside the box to try and foil everything the club does along the way with planning expect objections and ridiculous nuclear type issues at every step.

Hopefully their support particularly financial is waining.

Count me in.

I don't think FoSB are going away anytime soon. I can see noise complaints happening during construction and of course there will definitely be noise complaints during events!

A good idea but I wouldn't use it to take up arms against FoSB. The objective of such a group should be to promote the benefits of the stadium. If you want to have a stated policy of refuting negative claims, I would reference "those opposed to the development" rather than specifying an individual group by name but there really is no need.

Great idea but, is this group not OXVOX?

YES.good 8dea.. How is this started, I think this idea is a must.

This is my concern with this. Whilst I see the logic in the idea and to make it specific to challenging misinformation, OxVox and OUSP already exist.

I could see it all becoming a bit Judean People's Front if we have too many.

Great idea. I doubt the Harbord Road residents association can fill McIvors front room with members, yet that has been bought up as a reason for having her on Radio Oxford and in the Oxford Mail despite it being a group no larger than the average family, she uses that as a front to try to nimby anything near her house (and in the case of the triangle not even particularly near nor will it even affect that road).

A truly large reverse pressure group, which could actually demonstrate it has numbers and bring those numbers to the table when it needs to would not only counter the various tiny anti groups which have virtually no members and also the same few members across multiple groups, but also show the strength of support for the triangle in comparison.
Surely it should be fosb for Oxford stadium build
