General Stadium Disrepair

Just a thought but if we get the go ahead on the triangle perhaps Thames Water will build a sewage treatment plant on Stratfield Brake just to make us really feel at home.
there was one on the edge of Yarnton- out of service now, no longer treating sewage

there's no truth in the unconfirmed rumour that a local councillor lives on that site now

Yes OUSP are on this.

Crowdfunding for mops & buckets to hand out at the turnstiles?

Or talking to the people that couldn`t be a**ed to even do a walk round before said turnstiles open?

Lets be honest about this - nobody gives a tuppence about the current hovel so we will just have to live with it until/if we move. Which will make it tricky to increase ticket prices over the next few years.... customer experience and all that....

News flash!

Upkeep and maintenance of the stadium is the responsibility of StadCo. who let us down time and time again.

Both OUSP and OxVox constantly raise concerns on behalf of fans that they represent. The club hear this and completely understand how this looks, but ultimately their hands are tied when dealing with StadCo.

The nature of our contract with them even prevents us from collectively getting a mop and bucket out and giving the stadium a proper clean.

So, you are right that no one gives tuppence about the current stadium, but wrong to blame anyone at the club or those that represent the fans for the situation we find ourselves in. There is only one person responsible and we are hopefully less than 3 years away from seeing the back of him once and for all.

Forgive me for saying this but, that's just not good enough. Stadco do have the responsibility under the terms of the licence to maintain the stadium to an acceptable level. OUFC have a duty of care towards those they sell tickets to, us. Ergo, it is the responsibility of the club to take Stadco to task and insist that they maintain proper standards. If this is not the case, and it clearly isn't, then the proper authorities need to be informed. The presence of pigeon crap (and in some places, pigeon carcass) is a health hazard.
Several conversations that I have had in the past with Stadco and the SLO have resulted in walk round inspections and the promise of proper cleaning protocols being put in place. There should never be the situation whereby anybody merely shrugs and accepts the situation on the basis that we are "less than 3 years away from seeing the back of him"
I take it, by the way, that this is not the official viewpoint of OUSP nor the official position of the club but, your personal opinion? I would hope that @OUSP Secretary can provide a more satisfactory explanation and that, with the cooperation of @OxVox we can expect action to follow.

Where have I suggested that anyone just shrugs their shoulders and accepts this?

OxVox and OUSP take it seriously and have spoken with the club to present the concerns of fans. The club and looking to take Stadco to task yet again, as they do with every case. Everyone, including me as part of OUSP is doing everything you ask.

The point that I have made is that raising concerns and fixing them are two very different things, and unfortunately the situation with Stadco is damaging for all concerned. So it doesn't help when people make ignorant comments about club employees or fan representatives, when the blame for this sits entirely with the landlord.

You haven't, I have. It's a turn of phrase.

I haven't asked you to do anything. I also know that OxVox and OUSP take this seriously, I wouldn't expect anything else. Never forget, I was a serving member of OUSP not so long ago and know how it works.

Stadco are responsible for the upkeep and cleaning. The SLO/Head of Operations and other staff are responsible for checking the standards and reporting back to Stadco any failings. Usually this involves a thorough walk through of the stadium and facilities prior to season start. Sadly, in successive seasons, deficiencies have been noted but not always rectified.

Accusing "the landlord" of being the one to blame for this is just taking a populist cheap shot. Aside from which, the s**t emanates most definitely from pigeons not Monegasque residents.

You seem to be angry with me for something I haven't said, and something you don't want me to do anything about.

You also seem to absolve the landlord and HIS maintenance company of blame, suggesting that any criticism is a "cheap shot". I personally think that Essex putting the blame on a club employee and supporter representatives is also a "cheap shot" and one that is completely undeserved.

For the record, OUSP, OxVox and the SLO/Head of Ops have all been in dialogue over this and have escalated things to Stadco. As you acknowledge, it's one thing to identify the problems and another very different matter in getting these things repaired. This was exactly the point I was making that you took exception to.

I am not angry with you.

I have never once "absolved" the maintenance company of blame. Nor, have I once suggested that criticising them is a cheap shot. I said:

I am probably less interested in what @Essexyellows has to say than you are. Albeit that he is also a supporter and due your OUSP member consideration as much as any other supporter.

I made no such acknowledgement, I pointed out that deficiencies have not always been rectified. If it is the case that the conditions, as reported by ticket holders, was ignored then the question should be, by whom?

Yep, silly me thinking the SLO will, as part of his job, actually walk around the stadium to see what the paying customers will experience.

Think I`ll just join him, the Stadco, the club, representative groups and others and just hold out hope for 2026............ for something that hasn`t got through the "paperwork" stage yet, and has already unearthed a bunch of professional complainers who will make Les Wells look like an easily paid off cheap hooker.

Might smuggle in some cleaning materials and get militant.

Great Post, if it wasn't for the fact that the SLO did walk the stadium before the game, if OxVox and OUSP hadnt raised concerns with the club on behalf of the wider supporter group, and if the club didn't take these issues seriously and were urgently addressing them with Stadco and other agencies.

But you're never one to let facts get in the way of a good moan are you?

The facts being..........

Did they see the usual issues - pigeon crap, dead birds, toilets etc? Or did they walk round ignoring them as acceptable?

As my late Mum used to say "If if`s & ands were pots and pans there would be no need to wash them".

PS: Its not just me that noticed, plenty of people have, and it all adds to the "negative supporter experience" at the stadium. So try playing the problem not those who identify it...... Maslow and all that. ;)

You haven't presented facts.

The facts are;

The SLO and his team had seen and recorded all of the issues prior to and during the game. I know because I was talking to him about it for 20 minutes on Saturday and adding my concerns to his list.

Further issues were raised through social media and from those contacting the dan representative groups directly. Consequently, a meeting was held on Monday between SLO, OxVox and OUSP to discuss further and to urgently take forward with Stadco and other relevant bodies.

My mum used to say "you have two ears and one mouth, that means you should listen twice as much as you talk!"

As for Maslow, the needs of all to be able to come to a safe, decent and secure environment are very clearly important, they are recognised and they are being addressed with those responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the stadium.
