But you could see what Appleton was trying to do. I'm afraid I hadn't got a clue on Saturday what LM was trying to do. Apart from asking his players to pass the ball around as if it were a training session. I really hope I'm wrong, but I had vv bad vibes after Saturday.
Could we? I just remember loads of people banging on about 'tippy tappy football' and saying he didn't have a clue.

Actually I'd go further. I'd say the Cambridge performance was at least as bad as anything we saw in the last few months of KR. It was almost Clotet-like. I don't think supporters are being disloyal/impatient at voicing huge concerns. I wasn't there tonight but Saturday was beyond pathetic. That's why so many people are raising huge red flags so early. I hope I'm wrong but honestly if we lose on Saturday, I'd pull the plug. There's an old saying in business. The mistake isn't in the mis-hire. It's not sorting out the mis-hire once you've identified your mistake. I really hope I'm wrong as LM seems a decent bloke (I really disliked KR). But these early signs are really not good at all.
Couldn’t agree more. It was not simply a case of a new team needing time to gel. Still, Tim will sort it out if he needs to…….

"Let's not appoint a manager because we've had him before and he was incredible" remains one of the weirder commonly held beliefs
Yeah but remember he left us so booooooooo to him.

A lot of our fans seem to be so used to no wanting our players or staff, the fact he got a move was because he did such a good job for us (as well as having the rug pulled under him here). Similar to the stick Fosu gets for turning up for free, getting double figure goals by January and then netting us three quarters of a million 6 months after joining. Three are far worse problems than people wanting our players/manager.

Did we?! I’m pretty sure it took until the new year for Appleton to really get the squad he wanted.
It’s been a big turn over of players so far in a quick succession and to be honest Bristol City have been smashing most teams in pre season I expect them to be up there this season.

A lot of work to do on the training ground but far far too early to panic yet!

Oft. Seemingly good timing for a match to fall on a date I had to be at a work do. Think I'll just ignore the League Cup this year and look forward to the weekend.

The performance was appalling in the second half, but what angered me more is that at 5-1, we seemed to sit back and absorb pressure, why you need to do that when you’re getting dicked in a cup competition I will never know

Yes let’s pay him off as well, after a couple of bad results.
I don't see any change from KR to LM at the minute we can't defend and that's all to see and the pressing is so slow just hope the 1 or 2 that should be coming in b4 Saturday are an improvement on what we already got in the building if not we are in trouble with what we are watching at the minute we are always playing catch up when we shouldn't be

Absolutely. Under Appleton, there was a shape to the team. You could at least see players knew what to do even if they weren't very good. Same with Wilder years before. There was nothing on Saturday. Zilch. Zero. It was just awful. Honestly, I'm normally pretty patient, but Saturday was appalling. Like I said, I really hope I'm wrong, but my gut feeling is that LM is the wrong hire.

Again, the shortcomings in the squad that for christ knows how long have been glaringly obvious still seem to keep getting pushed back . Forget the transfer deadlines , full backs for example should have been sorted long before now.
And sorry, you have to do things like win your individual battles and as a team want to win more than the opposition . This constant "we play the right way" and xg tells us we should have won crap is a total cop out. Start playing whatever way wins football matches.

Is it a must win already?

It’s safe to say the defence have not started well as expected and I agree with @WuTang on twitter and look to splash out on a full back and loan a striker.

Just said on talkSPORT that we look good going forward but very shaky at the back.
Mathematically, no, obviously. But for the psychology of the dressing room, the club and the fan opinion of Manning that is starting to brew, I would say yes. A win would just settle things down because he’s 12 competitive games in now and it’s becoming a bit of a chore to find positives - would you agree?

Top 6 ambitions look a bit of an embarrassing shout right now. We need to slow ourselves down and focus on actually being competitive within games because there is a catalogue of problems in the team and I just can’t see who we’ll beat! Inevitably we’ll beat someone but who? When? We make goal scoring look over complicated and defending look impossible.

I don’t like our shape at all. I haven’t from the minute he walked in but I understood why we went in this direction and it rather fortunately yielded enough points to stay up - somehow. But I can’t quite understand why we haven’t made more effort to get in to the shape that put him on the map as a manager. Bizarre.

We have to have patience... OK I will be...... I and don't most of us... Expect a positive result Saturday???

Clearly Manning hasn’t launched into them for that awful showing. He needs to be a manager and show that’s unacceptable not ‘take the positives’ what positives? Awful interview

12 games but 10 of them with another manager’s squad and 2 with a whole new team including players that aren’t his type of players.

I think most people were saying that a top half finish and a flirt with the play offs was the aim without actually making the play offs.
That is more than achievable.

I still fully expect Manning to get us playing his way and it will bring more positive results than negative.

He plays the shape that currently suit the players he has. This isn’t going to be a quick fix after Robinson assembled that squad last season.

Men against boys, simple as that, cant see where the goals are going to come from, harris chance has alarm bells ringing for me

He isn’t that type of manager. He is emotional like Robinson was. He will give them the same amount of time win or lose but if need be he will give them a rocket the next day or the following one. He will make it known when he isn’t happy but in an interview he always stays quite calm and measured.

Fans can’t complain about Robinson coming out all emotional and shooting from the hip then on the same front moan when we have a manager who is calm and measured.
