General Feedback from Friday's visit at OUFC

Do you still want Karl as manager/head coach (whatever). And will you still be calling for his head if we lose against Rovers whilst letting Tim know your feelings?

I believe he should have gone in the summer.

The board are playing a dangerous game by letting it rumble on so they don’t have to make a call till the end of the season.

Nope as I won’t be attending & told Tim why.

To believe that Karl wasn’t aware who these people are and just stumbled upon the meeting is laughable!

Yeah, I agree.

Whether TW told him or it was picked up from the public domain; people will probably make up their own minds...

So, in summary:

Williams doesn't have the authority to sack Robinson. That decision is made by the board, which he's not on.

If Williams doesn't have the authority to sack him, then it doesn't really feel like he's Robinson's boss.

Maybe that's why Robinson feels able to wander into a meeting like yesterday... because it's not really Williams' place to tell him otherwise. It seems like it's still very much Robinson's way around the club day to day because there is nobody based here with the authority to tell him otherwise.

And it might explain why we've been drifting downwards for such a long period of time. For all we know, Williams is telling the board every week that fans are pissed off but they still don't want to take action.

Did you tell him after you were shown todays team sheet.

The most important thing is we win today and go on to stay up ,the inquest otherwise will be very difficult. It sounds like the club know alot of mistakes have been made but they are putting alot of money in. Without them we might not be existing now. And it's quite interesting everyone thinks Mous would have been a great manager no one really knows that yet. Even though avery good friend of mines son is Richard Hughes who seems to have alot of clout at Portsmouth almost as much as the manager interesting times. So if we can get to the summer still in league 1 and at the minute that's a big if. Let's hope things have been learnt by the board and iam sure we will have a different season .Its amazing how quickly football can change.

If Karl makes it to the end of the season as our manager, he’ll be the manager at the start of the season to come. That’s my opinion.

He clearly holds sway with the ownership group and they seem to buy into his thinking, despite a protracted period of significant decline. I wouldn’t rule out a contract extension of a year to remove any uncertainty (though they may use that to change the termination clauses).

They can throw as much money at it as they want but while one person remains there - and continues to hold the power that he does - nothing is going to change.

I also think he’ll be manager going in to next season. A decent start and a new contract will be announced before Christmas.

You really couldn’t make this s**t up…

Seem to recall that Wilder signed a new, reduced contract during a summer when it was heavily suggest that he might be sacked. And that he ended up leaving in very unhappy circumstances despite us being in the promotion places around Christmas. It’s a dangerous game to play as although it feels clever, the manager will be resentful often and spend most of the time looking for new jobs.

It’s a difficult one. On one hand he probably will feel victimised by the fans. I honestly do think that he believes that it’s not all his fault and he’s just been unlucky this season, he has such a high regard for his own ability. So there will be resentment

On the other hand though - he knows he has the cushiest and safest job in football. He gets to do what he wants here with very little consequence. What the fans think might wound him but doesn’t really matter a jot in the grand scheme of things.

He seems to have a job for life here if he wants it. Why walk away from that?

I’m not so sure.

In my mind, they actually wanted him to go after Cambridge but with no plan for who could replace him at short notice, they felt the lesser of two evils was to keep him. But I think now they know he has to go. I suspect a lot of phone calls were made this week about the availability of coaches at the end of the season but preferably free agents who may be able to come in now if Karl loses today. That pool of managers will be small given a possible relegation on the CV that wouldn’t be their fault.

I think he’s going at the end of the season regardless. The board understand the damage of keeping him now but they’re a calculated bunch who will want someone in the dugout straight away. I think that’s all that saved him last week; a lack of foresight by his bosses.

This might have been a dream but I’d like to think there was at least some method behind keeping him this week.

No one holds sway if you keep losing. It's very close to be untenable a lost today will be that.I hope we win because we are running out of games and teams that we might beat simple as.

Didn’t we think that this time last week?

I haven’t read all this thread but I get the impression that the tough, personal questions weren’t asked of him in person like they are on here ? Why not ? By definition, if you were there it’s because you’ve written in to Tim Williams basically asking him to sack Robinson. You’ve got Robinson face to face and it seems you’ve bottled it. What’s the worst he can do if you basically tell him he’s a fat, useless, scouse gobshite - like you do on here. Was it 12 who went ? I hope each and everyone at least had the balls to tell him you wanted him sacked.
Who the hell are you to come up with a statement like that.

I was there you weren’t and you probably won’t believe me but nobody “ bottled it”

Seems to me you are just one of those people who come on here and spout what you want but can’t be arsed to do anything about it personally.
If you want I can give you Tim Williams e mail address, you can then write to him and ask the questions you want

I don't think even if we lose today he will get sacked unfortunately he's here until the summer at least so let's just get behind the team try and get as many points as we can to stay up and then see what the summer brings

You’re assuming this isn’t already the case.

So if we win every game till the end of the season, what's everybody's take on Robinson then
