Manager/Coach KREXIT: The 'Robbo Out' thread.

As someone said on the after match phone in, how many of those 'great' players to come back from injury are full backs or wingbacks? We will still be shite in those positions.
Look, I'm not saying our recruitment hasn't been poor over the summer. It has in some areas, but where we are most deficient at the moment is in attack. Henry and Bodin lack pace and are past their best. Murphy has scored about a goal every four games when playing left wing in his career, mostly in the Championship. Taylor has scored 20+ goals a season at this level consistently but like any number 9 he tends to go through dry patches. Baldock is far too good for this level when fit and last year we were unplayable when he played alongside Taylor. A huge part of our goal scoring ability is currently out.

Defensively we've not improved on the loss of Mcnally, but we're losing games by a goal. Had we actually had any attacking threat on the pitch today we would've won and our style of play would've been completely different.

He'll be given the opportunity to bring back our injury prone lads, to come into the side and who'll in the main, be far from match fit. He's craving that opportunity as its the only excuse he really has left.

Imagine, Yanic, Murphy, Baldock plus Browne and Cams wages in L2, a point made to me today, now that's a eye watering concern.

As for sympathy, not much from me. Some of what I have heard is outrageous.

The most alarming thing of all for me today was the suggestion we wouldn’t change from 532 for the foreseeable. We signed players for 433, our wingers got injured so we were much closer to a good 532 side towards the end of the transfer window, we failed to sign any wing backs ready to play consistently in L1. It feels like KR is now blindly sticking to a formation to save face from switching again.

If we switch back to a 4, we can tread water until January and go from there. We will be in the bottom 4 if we persist with playing wing backs with no wing backs.

I’m someone who’s advocated that he gets the winter window to fix what’s gone wrong in the summer. A big caveat to that is that he does as much as anyone else can do with this skeleton squad in the meantime, todays tactics were ridiculous.

Well quite.

Robinson initially recruited for 4-3-3, except he failed to get a new left back and hoped that Sam Long would do a job for him at rightback.

Three at the back requires athletic wing backs. I’m guessing that Robinson thinks that Seddon might be able to fulfil that role and he’s taken a wild punt on Anderson.

I feel sorry for Brown and Henry, they’re being asked to play in a position they’re both ill suited to.

To put it mildly it’s all a bit of of a shambles recruitment wise. Very muddled.

Can't see injury prone players coming back & giving 100% crunching tackles. Chickening out of 50/50s & the like..

We'll have had a number of our key players back in the squad and a chance to judge our true ability.

Moore and Taylor I get, big losses without question.

Baldock we will see for a few games and then he will be out injured again, that’s just what has happened to him since he was 28 and it’s hard to see that changing at his age now. The games he will play are the bit that is the outlier, not the time he is injured.

Murphy is the other one coming back (not counting Jones as he doesn’t play him) and who knows what he is, good pedigree but another who has had problems and isn’t a player to be relied on.

Wildschutt is out for ages and Robinsons season will probably be sorted one way or another without him.

So it’s not as if the cavalry is riding over the hill to save him, just a couple of lads who will still have to fit into a team/squad that doesn’t make any sense.

Henry is now playing wingback not as a forward.

That may be true about Baldock, but also going by his recent history he will be injured again soon.

As you rightly say we now have a downgrade at CB, but we also have far fewer options at FB/WB, and that's already from a poor set of options last season!

I really can't see anywhere on the pitch that we are better, or have better options, this season than last.

There is a lot more than meets the eye going on at the moment. I'm going to leave it at that, albeit, very cryptic, but let's just say we need to cut Karl some slack at least in the immediate future and over the past few weeks.
If a situation has arisen that makes him unable to carry out his duties as manager then he needs to step back and allow someone else to take over.
There is no plausible situation that would allow an employer to condone an employee acting in a manner that compromises the business.

He has the most important job at the club, he can either do it or not. It’s hard but for a business of our size to have one it’s highest earners in its most vital position allowed to underperform for some unknown reason is just not viable.

He gave Henry and Bodin two year contracts in the summer, how the hell is it a defence of him that they are past there best?

We could be in a very poor place by the end of October we have no back up squad .Any more injuries and if any of those coming back get injured it won't be we might be in the bottom 4 we will be in the bottom 4. Henry and Bodin should be playing odd games not all the games I really don't know what has happened to the planning but it's going to be a very tough few weeks .I feel sorry for Karl but that's why you need help from his Staff, ,something has happened whether is head got turned at QPR fc and he lost the plot who knows But we are in the s##t I think we would all take staying up at the minute it feels that bad.

It was an abject performance but bizarrely we were a bit unlucky in a couple of situations.

Some will say hitting the woodwork twice in 5 seconds is poor finishing, I thought that was unlucky. Then the penalty came from a heavy 1st touch. I was sat level with the incident in the family stand and I can see why maybe Eastwood misjudged it, Grigg reacted well to an awful touch to win the penalty.

It was really sterile from us, there was a complete lack of pace, width and creativity. I don’t think there was a lack of endeavour, but that team is a million miles off a good division 1 team.

I thought it was interesting Anderson didn’t get a few minutes as we were chasing the game. Maybe KR didn’t think he did enough in his cameo on Tuesday. I appreciate it is very early days for him but if we carry on playing wingbacks and he doesn’t work out then we’re in even more trouble.

Of course, but I don't think many employers would drop an employee who has shown great loyalty and leadership in dark times at a time when maybe that personal loyalty and support needs to be reciprocated. Most employers have some empathy and humanity.

The bloke is marmite, I get that. I think he has taken far too much on his own shoulders and that is as much his fault as any one else's. But right now we are still four points off the play offs with 10 games played. The fact that we are as pissed off as we are about the start of this season shows how far our expectations have come under MApp and KR.

I think he has earned enough credit over the past few years to at least give him until January. If I were on the board I would be telling him that he needs to get a DoF in whether he likes it or not and that he should review one or two of the staff he has around him. Regardless, I think we need to show him some loyalty right now.

Without doubt the performances have been poor so far, but we aren't shipping lots of goals and we have half our team out. History has shown we will come good. If we fall short again or come January there has been no improvement, then it really is time to start asking questions. Until then I'm giving KR the benefit of the doubt.

"There are things you don't know about in recent weeks, which would fundamentally change your view of KR and the situation we are in".

"Ok, what?"

"I can't say".

"You have to".

"I just really like Karl".

The man turns up for photo shoots at Helen and Douglas House. We have to keep him for that alone, no other manager would do that, surely?

Rob Dickie arrived just before Robinson.
Although the point I’m making he has made a lot of money by developing the players and then selling them on. I wasn’t happy they moved on although for the benefit of their careers can understand why.
Cameron Brannagan may have agreed to stay on because of KR. I’m certainly happy we have kept him.
Marcus McGuane I’m very happy with. I’m sure everyone wants Baldock back. Defence is concerning as I think we paid out a not insubstantial sum for Findlay and so far he is slow off the mark.
I still can’t understand why we kept Eastwood stay and let Jack Stevens go on loan, especially now McGinty appears to have come in as an unused substitute
Yes they were good signings but he's been here 4 and a half years. Every manager makes good signings if given that amount of time, there's nothing particularly unique about him. To be critical for every McNally and Atkinson who we did well out of financially there's the likes of Winnall, Hanson and any number of injury prone players we've wasted a fortune on. Swings and roundabouts isn't it?

When a new Manager comes in next Wednesday, what is in front of him.

Still square pegs for round holes

An injury list more suitable for Casualty without knowing if/when and whether they will be the same again and for how long if they are.

Revert to the attacking style of previous years? How? Why should that happen?

In Brown and Findlay we have decent defenders but by no means ball players (Findlay's passing has been awful )

Bring in some free agents? are they ready to go or do we have to wait for them to get match fit? Again why on earth would that ned to happen

In trying to address the Goals against column, we have lacked fluidity and look a former shadow of the side of previous seasons with the Entertainment factor non existent.

This already feels like the season when by Xmas we had exited the cups and were as good as out of the Auto Promotion race.

Even if Karl has his best 11 fit and avaiable, I still can't help thinking that we'll be hiding behind fingers when the opposition approach our final 3rd and that goes for the new fella as well surely? Sorry but a complete load of rubbish and supposition, why on earth should that happen?

Sorry these are the type of posts from 5 weeks ago. We are way past that place. Hes had the benefit of the doubt on too many occassions. Now the club is tagnating, just as it did in the last few days of Wilders reign.
A dead man walking.

With all this being the case though why would you want to give another window to the bloke who's put that squad together?

He's shown for years he's incapable of building a squad. We've always run light on defenders but last season was the first time it caught up with us, we were fortunate previously. He's ignored key positions and constantly signs players with a history of injuries. I don't think he's going to learn from his mistakes, he seems too proud and caught up in a narrative that he's really unlucky.

You say yourself it feels like the season is over. I don't see us getting near the playoffs this season - our squad is worse than last season and we were a mile off it then - and if that's the case then Robbo would have to go in the summer. If you don't think we're going to get there then I don't see the logic in not looking to replace him now and give the new manager a good few months with the team and a transfer window to try and start fixing this squad. KR certainly shouldn't be in charge of another window.
