Luke Garbutt

Yet another player in a key area that we have no apparent future control over.

was hoping this seasons squad was going to be players that have the same vision as the club and want to be here for the long haul not using us as a shop window///stepping stone.

wish the whole loan system was removed from the game.

Completely agree with your sentiment, to a point. It would be one of the 3 things I would change in football if I were in charge for a day. Clubs should only be able to loan out a maximum of 5 and clubs should only be able to take in 3 maximum. Would force clubs to live within their means and stop the ludicrous scenario of the big 6 hoovering up/stealing young players from clubs like ourselves without any intention of playing them for years if ever. That said I am pleased that our problem position for the last few years looks to have been sorted. Couple of strikers on permanent deals next which would also calm my concerns over the available funds to the clubs transfer policy.

Completely agree. Why though, if the budget is as competitive as tiger made out, are we signing loan players before permanent?
If they play well, they get the recall, off to a championship side, and bang our season gone. Two strikers still needed, along with Ledson and Rothwell replacements.

They don’t need to play well to go off to a championship side! They turned down championship side to come here !

You sign players when available not once u have done it other permanent deals, if we went by ur logic garbutt wouldn’t be available as he would join another club while we waited.
Caruthers is rothwells replacement

Not sure about replacements for Ledson and Rothwell, but certainly need 2 strikers and a winger preferably one on the left. Want them permanent though and am surprised Marquis is still at Doncaster.

Words from a mate who works for Everton as a scout. He has bags of talent, a wand of a left foot but has had issues with attitude.

Thinks he will do well at our level.

Not necessarily true. Shrewsbury had 5 season long loan last season and none were recalled.

 Change the effing record mate.

Good signing. Why on Earth are Everton still holding on to 25 year olds who aren’t going to make their first team?

I’d rather we signed him than had another loanee really.

Welcome aboard, Luke.

I imagine no one else can match the wages he is on at Everton and he doesn't want to take a pay cut when he can just go out on loan and earn the same money.

You need to read some comments on here that seem sensible.
As Brassmonkey says the reason is obviously as the quality is better than we could otherwise afford.
And Shrewsbury kept all of their loanees last season.

I bet you're the sort to moan how hot it is?

We've had years of buying crap that we are then stuck with. Now we're bringing in quality players and you're still not happy.

Instead of Garbutt and Carrathurs, who would you have bought?

I think it's a class signing. Now if we can get a striker of similar or better ilk than this we could be dark horses. I think we might need a bigger positive bus. In KR &Tiger ? I trust. COYY

Newey and Heslop.
