It very much depends how close some of these deals are, and who they're for. If we know that Cadden has gone elsewhere then I'd look to get Dominic Thompson is ASAP from Brentford before they go to Germany for a training camp. He was at Ipswich for the second half of last season so is league 1 ready.
Findlay is in the country and (I think) will be at the training ground tomorrow to sign. He should be fit and ready to go so can hopefully get some minutes this week and time with the team. I'd certainly hope that he is ready to start with Moore against Coventry.
We need someone on the right, and we've definitely been in talks with Cardiff for Gavin Whyte. There would have been no issue with him playing this weekend and will get some yards in his legs ahead of a return. Cardiff will want to cover some of their losses, but they know that he's gone next season anyway so a deal is very possible.
It also sounds like a deal for Tyler Morton is as good as done, but he's likely to go to the far east with Liverpool and won't be back until next weekend so likely to join after but maybe in time for the West Brom game.
Get those 4 deals done and things are looking significantly better.
I very much agree, get these 4 done and things will look better. However with a sensible head on some important points:
Cadden we’ve been looking at or wanting for 12 months or more. We should have tied this one up ages ago if he really sees us as his next move. If not we should have moved on long ago and Thompson or whoever it may be should already be here.
We desperately need similar as a right back option, both to cover and compete with Sam Long, who may be needed as CB cover or if he gets injured (slightly worrying already that he didn’t feature yesterday)
Findley great if he signs which seems almost certain tomorrow?
Tyler Morton would no doubt be a bit of coup, but other than youtube clips i don’t know much about him. Clearly he’s very highly regarded, my only fear is he may be slightly lightweight and i‘m really not sure how much we can rely on just Gorrin as the other central holding midfield option. AG is probably nowhere near ready to play regularly and cope with the demands of league one just yet (again didn’t even get any minutes in yesterday). So do we still need another solid league one option for the middle of the park with the height and physical presence our side has lacked for several years?
Gavin Whyte I’d love back with us permanently, but why has it taken so long if a deal is on its way? This should have been sorted out at the end of last season and the deal done and with us ready for the start of our pre-season. Ok Cardiff may have wanted replacements first but they made signings weeks ago, so whilst I really hope we get him asap, it’s taken far too long. If we don’t get him we should again have moved on weeks ago in all honesty.
Just to add further, another striker if we sign one needs to again be someone with height and physicality who can offer something different either from the start or as an impact substitute. We need plans B and C from the start and during games, and need different types of players to give us that.
Finally, please please don’t sign Sinclair, he’s just not good enough and I’d rather we gave one of our youngsters the equivalent game time.
The next week or two are massive to demonstrate our real intentions this season, hopefully we’ll come up with the goods, and also get some solid players with the physical presence we so badly need to compete, and compliment our existing best players.
