Aussie’s worked incredibly hard, thought France were a littlebit fortunate in the end.

Agree with Philip Neville re VAR penalty decision for France. Not a penalty in my view, defender definitely got a touch on the ball before Frech attacker fell over him.

What’s the point in VAR if officials fail to use it correctly?

If VAR gives that as a penalty, why didn't they ping Pepe for cheating last night on the Spanish first goal? He went down looking to get Costa a red card by simulating an elbow.

And again, players are falling over with little contact or making it worse. Bunch of cheating gits. VAR should be used both ways, otherwise it's just an unfair tool to beat defending teams with. They set the precedence with penalties now

Ps. Didn't see France game earlier, just seen clips

With you on that. If VAR is to be used, let’s use it for instances of simulation too.

I think refs tend to be too lenient when it comes to diving. Yellows tend to be shown in instances of players taking a dive in the box or around it. Since simulation is an irritating blight on the modern game, let’s punish offenders wherever it happens on the pitch.

Thought France were a bit jammy today and need a bit of a rejig with personnel. Two DMs and a CB at RB won’t see them progress too far.

Agree. There were occasions yesterday where Iran and Morocco players were blatantly cheating by falling over and over simulating contact to get the opposition booked or sent off. It's trying to gain an advantage and VAR should be all over it. If a defender did a sly tug of a jersey, VAR would not hesitate to step in.

FIFA clearly have no thought about VAR and put a system in place to make it robust. So it's biased towards attacking teams.

It wouldn't take more than a few seconds to watch the replay (that we all see on TV anyway) and just say to the ref there wasn't any contact to the face (or where ever) and the player is cheating to gain an advantage. The ref can then tell the player to get up, book him and get on with the game.

The amount of falling over and acting hurt is embarrassing. It really is.

The France penalty is not a clear and obvious error, which is what VAR is there to remove. The Aussie player took the ball first. You may as well give up tackling.

Iceland equalising against the argies was enjoyable, certainly more enjoyable than the last time I saw them score 2 years ago.

This is the worst Argentina squad I can remember.

Ignore the shock-and-awe of their attack. Three goalkeepers who are all over 30 and have nine caps between them plus 14 of the 23 are all over 30.

Old, unbalanced and overrated. I hope Iceland batter them! ??

Argentina denied an obvious penalty. They didn’t go to VAR for it.

Eh?

Eh?

Never sure how I feel about those - modest contact and an obvious dive.

I'd love to see the ref give a pen and book for simulation!

Kind of like "umpire's call" in cricket. Has to be an obviously wrong decision. The VAR ref thought there wasn't enough in it to reverse the decision. Had he given the penalty, it would have stayed as a penalty I would imagine.

VAR again! Peru given a penalty

What would have had happened if Denmark broke from that incident and scored? It's asking for trouble!
